Recent reports have revealed that Oppo is working on the Find X8 Mini, a compact flagship phone for the Chinese market. A recent leak by tipster Digital Chat Station has also indicated that Oppo’s sibling brand OnePlus is developing a compact flagship phone for China. Will these phones cannibalize each other’s sales? DCS believes there won’t be a clash, as there will be one major difference between the two phones.

DCS leaks details about OnePlus’ upcoming compact phone

According to the tipster, the forthcoming compact phone from OnePlus will feature a 6.31-inch flat OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. There is no clarity on whether it will be part of the number series, which includes the OnePlus 13 or the Ace lineup. Speaking of the Ace series, the brand is expected to unveil the Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Elite, respectively, in December of this year.

OnePlus compact phone’s launch timeframe

When a Weibo user asked DCS whether OnePlus’ compact phone would clash with the Find X8 Mini, DCS responded that there wouldn’t be any conflict as the two phones would have different chipsets. At present, there is no information about the Find X8 Mini’s chipset. If the OnePlus compact phone arrives with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Find X8 Mini could be equipped with the Dimensity 9400 like the Find X8 and X8 Pro.

The OnePlus compact phone is expected to debut in the second quarter of 2025 in China. As far as the Find X8 Mini is concerned, it may break cover with the Find X8 Ultra, which is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2025 in the home market.
