Vivo is reportedly preparing to launch a new compact mid-range smartphone next year that will feature a powerful Dimensity 9 series chip, a 6.31″ display, and impressive camera capabilities. The news comes from Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station. This model is speculated to be part of Vivo’s S series, which is known for offering a blend of style and performance in the mid-range segment. This move aims to cater to users who prefer compact smartphones without sacrificing top-tier specs.
According to DCS, the phone is expected to feature an 8T LTPO screen, which will have a 1.5K resolution. It will translate to nearly 460ppi pixel density, which can offer crisp and clean visuals for text and images.
As for the cameras, the device is likely to be equipped with a large-bottom 50-megapixel main sensor. A telephoto lens will also reportedly be included, offering users greater versatility in their photo-taking experience. For context, this year’s S20 Pro includes a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto. Moreover, the phone will feature a new silicon anode battery, which ensures a large capacity despite the smaller form factor.

The upcoming Vivo phone shares several key specifications with the recently launched Vivo X200 Pro Mini, which gained attention for its compact size and high-end features. Launched in October, the X200 Pro Mini features a 6.31-inch 1.5K screen, a camera system that includes a 50-megapixel Zeiss main camera, a 50-megapixel super telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The X200 Pro Mini is powered by the Dimensity 9400 chip and boasts a massive 5700mAh battery.
The tipster also revealed that the new phone could launch sometime in the second quarter of next year, between April and June. As Vivo continues to expand its product offerings, this new compact model may fill a gap in the mid-range segment, offering a balance of performance, design, and battery life.
The S20 Pro, for instance, features the Dimensity 9300+ chip and a 5500mAh battery, all packed into a slim 7.19mm body.
