Mozilla has rolled out Firefox 135.0 globally, introducing AI-driven tools, expanded language support, and stricter privacy safeguards. The update targets both user experience and security.
New Features
Firefox Translations now supports Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, with Russian added as a target language. A built-in AI Chatbot—accessible via the sidebar or Firefox Labs—is being rolled out globally, requiring users to select a provider to activate. Credit card autofill is also now widely available.
Security Upgrades
Firefox enforces certificate transparency, mandating proof of public disclosure for server certificates. The CRLite revocation system improves performance for certificate checks. A new safeguard blocks sites from flooding browser history via the history API, preventing navigation issues.
Interface Changes
The redesigned New Tab layout—featuring a streamlined logo placement, story cards, and up to four columns on large screens—expands to all regions with Stories support. Linux and macOS users can now close single tabs using the Quit shortcut when multiple tabs are open.
Privacy Tweaks
The “Do Not Track” checkbox is removed; users must enable Global Privacy Control (GPC) to request data privacy. The renamed “Copy Clean Link” strips tracking parameters from URLs and works on plain text links.
Developer Tools
Firefox 135 warns against improper use of content visibility, adds a $$$ console command for shadow root searches, and fixes WebExtension debugging for workers and content scripts. Linux binaries now use XZ compression for faster unpacking.
Web Platform Updates
HTTP/3 gains post-quantum encryption via mlkem768x25519. PointerEvents now support fractional coordinates for precision, and mouse/pointer events align with specs when targets are removed. WebAuthn’s getClientCapabilities() method is now supported.
