Apple is set to launch the iPhone SE 4 at a special Apple event today at 10 AM PT (11:30 PM IST), which means we are only hours away from the official unveiling. However, ahead of the launch, the protective cases of the phone were spotted on Alibaba, which reaffirms the design suggested by the previous renders from Spigen.

As you can see in the image below, the back design of the phone remains relatively similar to the iPhone SE 3. But on the front, you finally get a notch, and a very slim bezel at the bottom. Of course, the home button on the SE lineup is finally replaced by Face ID sensors inside the notch.

Just like the iPhone SE 3, the SE 4 also appears to lack magnets for easier alignment on MagSafe accessories. The magnets on the cases almost confirm the absence of magnets inside the phone. And the back camera setup is also very similar to last year.

Rumored specifications:

The phone is expected to pack a 48MP sensor on the back (up from 12MP) and a 12MP sensor on the front (up from 7MP). Although the sensor is likely smaller than the ones on the more expensive models, it’s still expected to benefit the image processing system with more details and result into improved imaging capabilities.

On the front, the phone is expected to pack a 6.1″ display, a major upgrade over the 4.7″ one of the SE 3. The panel is also OLED this time, which suggests better colors and contrast, and overall a much improved visual experience. The panel is expected to reach 800 nits in HBM and 1200 nits in peak brightness, which is also an improvement as compared to its predecessor. For those unfamiliar, HBM refers to the maximum brightness the display reaches in direct sunlight, while the peak brightness is only triggered in a small portion of the display in certain conditions like during HDR video playback.

Nonetheless, these are still rumors, so take them with a pinch of salt. We’ll have to wait for the official unveiling for confirmation.
