First launched in September 2023 as a follow-up to Ray-Ban Stories, the Meta smart glasses blend iconic design with voice-driven AI features. Users can ask questions, control music playback, capture photos and videos, and send messages—all hands-free by saying “Hey Meta.” The glasses support audio and video calls via WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, and now include the ability to send direct messages through Instagram too.

One of its major features is the new live translation tool, supporting 32 languages, including English, French, Italian, and Spanish. This tool works offline if the necessary language packs are pre-downloaded. In markets where the glasses are already sold, users are also testing an experimental “see-what-you-see” mode—an AI vision feature that responds contextually to surroundings.

What to expect from the Indian launch

While Meta hasn’t shared the exact launch date or pricing, the US price is $299 (approx. Rs. 25,600). Indian pricing could start between Rs. 35,000 and 40,000. The glasses are expected to arrive with all new features, including offline translation, voice assistance, and compatibility with popular music platforms like Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music.
