OnePlus will unveil the OnePlus 13T, a compact flagship phone, in China today. It appears that the brand is also contemplating launching a compact flagship phone in the Indian market. This assumption is based on a recent OnePlus-commissioned Counterpoint Research survey, which suggests that consumers are expecting a compact flagship from OnePlus.
Research reveals growing demand for compact flagship phone
The Counterpoint Research survey suggests that OnePlus may consider launching a compact flagship smartphone, responding to growing consumer demand in India. The survey reveals that 74% of respondents prefer compact smartphones, yet 68% feel there are limited options available in this segment.
Consumers are seeking flagship-level performance in smaller devices, with 88% willing to purchase a compact phone if it offers powerful processor performance and long-lasting battery life. OnePlus, which is one of the most preferred brands for future compact smartphone purchases, appears to be well-positioned to meet this demand.
The survey also highlights the importance of usability, with 73% of consumers prioritising one-handed use and comfort, making a compact design essential. The ideal screen size is between 6 to 6.5 inches for 60% of respondents. Additionally, with the rise of mobile gaming and an increasing focus on AI-powered features, there is a clear opportunity for OnePlus to introduce a compact flagship phone that combines performance, usability, and long-term comfort—filling a noticeable gap in the current smartphone market.

The OnePlus 13T heading to China features a 6.32-inch, 2640 x 1216p 1.5K LTPO display with a flat design. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and equipped with a 50-megapixel IMX906 OIS main camera, alongside a 50-megapixel 2X telephoto lens. The device offers a 6260mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. With a metal middle frame, glass body, optical under-screen fingerprint sensor, and an 0809 X-axis motor, it weighs 185g and is rated IP65 for water and dust resistance.
