The news arrives from an Android Central report after they directly reached out to the search engine giant. In the recent past, the Pixel 9 series suffered from screen flickering issues. So when Google was asked about possibly upgrading the PWM dimming rate or adding a flicker reduction accessibility option to the next gen Pixel flagships. For those unaware, the PWM dimming is a feature that lets smartphones make their display appear dimmer by turning the display on and off quickly. This gives an appearance of decreased brightness. While this isn’t noticeable for most people, there are some users that can get a headache while using devices with a lower PWM rate. Unfortunately, the Pixel phones are one of these devices.

The part where the brand mentioned later this year might be hinting at a notable upgrade in the Pixel 10 lineup. For those unaware, Google is set to unveil the Pixel 10 series globally sometime around August 2025. There might be a software upgrade to make the experience smoother for the older models, while the latest flagships get higher PWM dimming out of the box.
