I’ve had the opportunity to spend nearly two months with the new OnePlus 13s. Specifically, I’ve been reviewing the Pink Silk edition with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. OnePlus positions this device as a compact flagship that doesn’t compromise on performance or battery life, addressing a common pain point in the compact phone market. Having put it through its paces in daily use—from heavy multitasking to extensive media consumption and photography, I’ve formed a comprehensive understanding of its capabilities and how it holds up to its claims.

Apart from Google Gemini, the OnePlus 13s is equipped with the OnePlus AI, which brings a suite of the following features:
• AI Plus Mind: This acts as a personal AI companion, consolidating scattered information from various apps into a single “Mind Space.” It can be activated by pressing the Plus Key or using a three-finger swipe. It intelligently recognizes and categorizes content like calendar events, suggesting adding them to your schedule. Future updates are planned to include automatic summarization of information and proactive suggestions based on saved data.
• AI Search: Building on previous intelligent search capabilities, AI Search offers a conversational approach to information retrieval. It leverages both on-device and cloud-based AI (via Google Gemini models) to scour local files, settings, notes, and calendars, providing personalized results in a dialogue-like format.
• AI VoiceScribe: This tool records, summarizes, and translates calls, meetings, and videos within third-party apps, supporting over 20 languages and integrating with popular applications like WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Snapchat, Zoom, and YouTube. Summaries are stored in Notes, and real-time translations are displayed as on-screen subtitles.
• AI Translation: A new dedicated translation application, “Translate,” offers enhanced translation capabilities across five modes: text, live voice, conversation, camera, and screen translation. It supports more than 20 languages.
• AI Reframe: Included in the photo editing suite, this uses AI algorithms to suggest optimised crops and aspect ratios for photos.
