Redmi has officially announced the upcoming launch of two performance-centric devices—the K80 Ultra smartphone and the K Pad compact tablet. The K80 Ultra will rival the likes of other performance-driven flagship phones, such as the iQOO Neo 10 Pro+ and the OnePlus Ace 5 Ultra, in the home market. On the other hand, Redmi’s gaming tablet will rival the likes of the Lenovo Legion Y700 (Gen 4), Red Magic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro, and iPad Mini.

Alongside the Redmi K80 Ultra, the Redmi K Pad will be the company’s first flagship tablet. Like the iPad Mini, it will be a compact offering equipped with an 8.8-inch 3K LCD panel from CSOT, supporting a 165Hz refresh rate and a 16:10 aspect ratio. It will be powered by the same Dimensity 9400+ platform, making it Redmi’s most powerful tablet to date. The device will also have support for 67W fast charging and bypass charging.

Redmi K80 Ultra set to redefine the 3K segment

The Redmi K80 Ultra is expected to feature the powerful Dimensity 9400+ chipset. It may be backed by a massive 7,400mAh battery and support for 120W fast charging, making it one of the most performance-focused smartphones in its segment.

Redmi’s China marketing head, Wang Teng Thomas, has referred to the Redmi K80 Ultra as the most luxurious performer in the 3,000 Yuan (~$420) segment. He also confirmed that the device will offer upgrades in various departments, such as display, haptics, sound quality, and design. Recently, he revealed that the K80 Ultra’s fingerprint sensor works with oily fingers, indicating that it is equipped with an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor

Redmi is expected to hold a launch event by the end of this month in China to unveil these two devices. Xiaomi is also said to be working on the launch of the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2. It remains to be seen whether the new clamshell will debut alongside the new Redmi products.
