Just days before its official launch, the Honor Magic V5 has surfaced in an early unboxing video—giving us a first look at what could be the slimmest and most refined foldable to date. Slated for a July 2 debut, the V5 combines cutting-edge design with premium extras. So, what does this early unboxing reveal?

The thinnest foldable yet gets another spotlight
The retail box includes a 66W fast charger, a USB-A to USB-C cable, and a lightweight 29g protective case. The case wraps around the back and hinge, includes a camera ring that doubles as a kickstand, and leaves the curved 6.45-inch LTPO OLED cover screen unobstructed.

The V5 stands out with its bold red faux leather back, gold-accented camera module, and 3D-textured gold hinge. It measures just 8.8mm when folded—down from the Magic V3’s 9.2mm—and only 4.1mm when unfolded. While Honor lists its weight at 217g, the video shows 224g, likely due to a pre-applied screen protector. Its hinge clicks firmly into place at 70 and 90 degrees for more flexible viewing angles.

Under the hood, the V5 packs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version chip and a large 6,100mAh silicon-carbon battery. Charging options include 66W wired and 50W wireless. It also features a triple 50MP rear camera system—main, ultrawide, and a periscope telephoto lens—along with an 8-inch 2K inner display. IP68 and IP69 ratings add top-level dust and water protection.
The camera bump has increased significantly, which hints at camera hardware upgrades. From what we have learned so far, this phone seems to outshine the Samsung Z Fold7 in multiple aspects. Nonetheless, some of the information mentioned above is yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned as more information is likely to surface as we inch closer to the launch.
