Amazon has introduced the third-generation Echo Show 5 smart display in India. It features a compact 5.5-inch screen with rounded edges, infinity cover glass, and an updated interface designed for better visibility in low light. The smart display is powered by Amazon’s new AZ2 Neural Edge processor and an improved microphone array for faster response and clearer voice recognition.
The device supports Alexa voice commands for managing calendars, setting reminders, checking weather updates, and controlling compatible smart home appliances such as lights, ACs, geysers, and security cameras. On-screen smart home controls and live video feeds from paired devices can be accessed with voice or touch.
The Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen) includes a built-in camera for home monitoring. Using Amazon’s “Drop In” feature, users can check in remotely or make video calls to other Echo devices with screens or Alexa app contacts. The display also supports messages and announcements across Echo devices in the home.
Entertainment features include an upgraded 1.7-inch rear-facing speaker, offering double the bass and improved clarity compared to the previous generation. Users can stream music and podcasts from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, or JioSaavn, or listen to audiobooks on Audible. Multi-room music playback is supported via grouping with other Echo devices.
The smart display can also be used to watch video content through Prime Video (subscription required), follow workout videos via the browser, or access visual content like recipes and to-do lists. Hands-free Alexa controls make daily tasks easier, such as creating shopping lists or setting alarms.
Privacy features include a built-in camera shutter, a microphone on/off button, and voice recording controls via the Alexa app. Amazon also provides a dedicated Alexa Privacy Hub for more transparency.
Pricing & availability
The Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen) is priced at ₹10,999 and is available in Charcoal and Cloud Blue. It can be purchased online through Amazon.in and Flipkart, and offline at select Reliance Digital and Croma stores.
