iQOO has appointed Vedang Vikas Chavan, a 25-year-old esports coach from Navi Mumbai, as its new Chief Gaming Officer (CGO). The announcement comes after a nationwide talent hunt that attracted over 80,000 gamers from more than 400 cities and towns across India. Vedang emerged as the winner after three months of competition, earning a ₹10 lakh prize and a strategic role within the company.
Vedang started his journey in gaming at the age of 10. He previously represented India at international PUBG PC tournaments in Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Australia. After transitioning into coaching, he built teams from the ground up and guided them to podium finishes at several major esports events. iQOO stated that Vedang was selected based on gameplay, communication, knowledge, and overall personality.
“I’m genuinely overwhelmed and grateful to be named iQOO’s new Chief Gaming Officer,” Vedang said. “I first came across this opportunity on LinkedIn, I saw it as the perfect way to challenge myself, a chance to grow, upgrade my skills, and do something meaningful in the esports space. The competition was intense, and every finalist I met was incredibly talented.”
iQOO CEO Nipun Marya welcomed Vedang, calling his journey “a perfect example of passion and perseverance.” Marya said Vedang’s experience as both a player and coach will help shape the brand’s gaming direction and deepen its connection to the esports community.
As CGO, Vedang will collaborate with iQOO’s leadership team and provide insights to enhance the gaming experience on iQOO smartphones. He will also work with professional gamers across India.
iQOO also appointed Harshvardhan Singh as its official caster. Singh has previously won the Nodwin Gaming Talent Hunt multiple times and has experience in match analysis, editing, and casting. iQOO said his role will support the brand’s efforts to strengthen its esports presence.
The CGO 2.0 program follows the debut edition in 2023, which named Shwetank Pandey as the first CGO.
