Xiaomi has launched its first indoor smart camera with zoom capabilities, the Smart Camera 4 Zoom Edition. The device is now listed on Xiaomi Youpin, with crowdfunding set to begin at 10:00 AM (CST) on August 20. It is priced at 399 yuan ($55) during the crowdfunding period, while the regular retail price will be 469 yuan ($65).

The Smart Camera 4 Zoom Edition features a dual-lens setup with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 5MP telephoto lens. It supports 9x hybrid zoom, including 3x optical zoom. This setup enables the camera to cover large areas while also capturing fine details at a distance. Xiaomi has equipped the camera with 4K resolution support, an f/1.6 aperture, and back-illuminated sensors to improve clarity in both daylight and low-light environments.
For night vision, the camera uses 10 infrared LEDs operating at 940nm. This allows it to see up to 10 meters in the dark without emitting visible red light. Xiaomi has included an upgraded motor system that improves pan-tilt performance by 30% over the previous C700 model. The camera supports a full 360° horizontal and 180° vertical range.
The Smart Camera 4 Zoom Edition also adds several AI-driven features. It can identify people based on their body shape and posture, even when their faces are not fully visible. The camera can track moving subjects and automatically adjust the zoom level depending on the subject’s size in the frame. It also supports pet tracking, baby cry detection, motion-triggered zoom, and gesture-based video calls using an “OK” hand sign.
The camera supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6 for faster and more reliable connectivity. It uses H.265 video encoding to minimize storage usage. For storage, it offers support for up to 256GB microSD cards, optional cloud storage via subscription, and compatibility with NAS backups.
Xiaomi has integrated privacy features such as a physical lens shutter and the MJA1 security chip with EAL5+ certification. All data transfers are encrypted, and the device supports local processing to reduce cloud reliance.
The Smart Camera 4 Zoom Edition integrates with Xiaomi’s HyperOS and Mi Home ecosystem, allowing users to remotely monitor footage via smartphones, tablets, TVs, and supported Xiaomi vehicles. It also supports multi-device surveillance and automation scene creation for enhanced smart home control.
