Vivo just dropped a new teaser, confirming the launch of a new Y series entry level smartphone. This model is set to debut in China soon and will bring high end resistance to the elements and a big battery for all day use. So here’s what you need to know.
Vivo Y500: What we know so far
The Chinese tech giant just shared a teaser that offers us a short glimpse of the Vivo Y500 along with some of its features. This upcoming mid range phone can be seen under the water, which likely implies at least an IP68 rating for resistance to water submersion. Considering how IP69 is also a popular offering from Chinese brands, we might also get protection against high pressure + high temperature water jets.

Apart from this, the back appears to be flat with rounded corners, housing a large circular camera module. This design marks a notable As the name suggests, this is the successor to the Vivo Y400 model, which just made its debut in India earlier this month. So we can expect minor upgrades over its predecessor. Notably, the Vivo Y400 was announced with the IP68 + IP69 rating for water and dust resistance. Vivo’s latest teaser arrives with the ‘long-lasting, durable, and powerful phone’ tagline.
