While OnePlus flagships were “flagship killers” back in the day, the smartphones steadily rose in price over the years. But with the next generation OnePlus 15, the brand could be revisiting its pricing strategy. The company could be going back to its roots in some ways, so here’s what we know.

Is OnePlus 15 Borrowing from iQOO’s Playbook?

The pricing info of the OnePlus 15 arrives from OnePlus Club on X (formerly Twitter). It seems like the Chinese brand is reportedly planning on pricing its upcoming flagship smartphone significantly lower. To achieve this lower price tag, OnePlus is apparently cutting out a bunch of the most costly components. The tweet adds that the OnePlus 15 is following in the footsteps of the iQOO 13.

In other words, the high end device might be designed to be an ultra-performance device. To recall, the iQOO 13 was one of the most affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite powered device, bringing flagship grade performance at an approachable price tag. This helped it achieve impressive sales that surpassed the combined sales of both the OnePlus 13 and Realme GT 7 Pro in the Chinese market. So OnePlus could be planning on adopting a similar performance centric approach this year.

While this is still an unconfirmed report, recent leaks also back this claim. One of the earlier rumors regarding the OnePlus 15 revealed a downgrade in display, with the 2K resolution being replaced with a 1.5K panel. OnePlus just ended its partnership with Hasselblad in favor of its DetailMax Engine, which could also help reduce the device’s overall cost.
