Apple CEO Tim Cook visited Tokyo to attend the reopening of Apple Ginza, the company’s first retail store outside the U.S. Originally opened in 2003, the store was temporarily relocated in 2022 during renovations and now returns to its original site with modern features. The reopened store includes an Apple Pickup station, Genius Bar, seating for Apple Vision Pro demos, spaces for Today at Apple sessions, limited-edition gift cards, and exclusive wallpapers for Apple devices.

During his visit, Cook engaged with Japanese pop culture, meeting boy band Number_i and hugging the iconic Pokémon character Pikachu. He also visited Bandai Namco headquarters to play the new iOS game Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra, highlighting Apple’s focus on gaming and developer engagement. On social media, Cook called Japan a “gamer’s paradise.”

Beyond Japan, Cook recently visited the U.K. and India. In the U.K., he attended a state banquet emphasizing Apple’s role in global tech partnerships. In India, he met Prime Minister Modi to reinforce Apple’s market presence and supply chain strategy. These visits signal Apple’s focus on international expansion, cultural engagement, and strong relationships with governments and developers worldwide.

Cook’s trip reflects Apple’s strategy of combining technology, culture, and business. By reopening a historic flagship store and supporting gaming innovation in Japan, while strengthening ties in other key markets, Apple continues to expand its global influence and connect with consumers and developers on multiple levels.
