GoPro has announced three new products for creators: the MAX2 360 camera, the LIT HERO lifestyle camera, and the Fluid Pro AI gimbal. Each product is aimed at different use cases but keeps GoPro’s focus on durability and ease of use.

MAX2: 8K 360 Camera

The MAX2 is GoPro’s new 360 camera priced at $499.99. It is the only camera on the market that captures True 8K 360 video, delivering 21 percent more resolution than competing models. It supports 10-bit color and GP Log encoding, which allows over one billion colors for better detail, dynamic range, and post-production flexibility.

It takes 29-megapixel 360 photos that can be cropped and reframed in the GoPro Quik app. The app also offers AI-powered editing tools like object tracking and MotionFrame editing by simply moving your phone to pan through the footage. Cloud-based editing is available for subscribers, with unlimited storage and no need to download large files to a phone.

The MAX2 uses twist-and-go replaceable lenses made of water-repelling optical glass. They can be swapped without tools or calibration. The camera includes a 1960mAh cold-weather Enduro battery for performance in low temperatures and has built-in GPS, which no other 360 camera offers.

Audio is handled by six microphones that record 360 stereo sound with advanced wind-noise reduction and Bluetooth connectivity. Ambisonic audio support will be added in a future update.

The design is low-profile and aerodynamic for pole, helmet, body, and vehicle mounting. It is waterproof and built for high-impact use. GoPro is also releasing 16 mounts and accessories designed for invisible mounting and drone-like shots.

MAX2 preorders are live now on GoPro.com for $499.99. It will be available worldwide at retail on September 30.

LIT HERO: Lifestyle Camera with Built-in Light

The LIT HERO is a compact lifestyle camera priced at $269.99. It weighs 93 grams and has a built-in light that works even in complete darkness. The light also gives video and photos a retro look that stands out compared to smartphones.

The LIT HERO is waterproof up to 16 feet and uses GoPro’s rugged build quality. It comes with an Enduro battery that lasts over 100 minutes at the highest video setting on one charge. It also supports magnetic mounting for flexible setups.
