The Vivo X300 uses Samsung’s 200MP ISOCELL HPB as its main sensor, which measures 1/1.4″ in size. This is slightly smaller than the Galaxy S25 Ultra‘s ISOCELL HP2 (1/1.3″). Due to their ultra-high resolutions, the actual pixel sizes on both sensors are quite small, meaning image quality heavily depends on image processing. That makes the camera comparison between the Vivo X300 and S25 Ultra worth watching — which phone handles noise better and captures more detail?

Leaker Ice Universe shared a series of side-by-side photos on X, comparing samples from both phones shot under different lighting conditions. Before diving into the results, it’s worth noting that the ISOCELL HPB is a brand-new sensor being used by Vivo for the first time, while Samsung has spent several generations refining its processing around the HP2. The HP2 is also a bit larger, so expectations for the S25 Ultra naturally remain higher.

But the results tell a different story. In daylight and detail-heavy scenes, the X300’s shots appear noticeably sharper and more vibrant, with less noise and more natural contrast. Vivo’s Zeiss-tuned optics and state-of-the-art image processing seem to be doing the heavy lifting.

The difference becomes more obvious upon closer inspection, where the Vivo X300 and its Pro sibling deliver more color-accurate results, while Samsung’s output looks flatter by comparison. As Ice Universe remarked in one post, “From this, I am even more convinced that even if Samsung were to adopt a 200MP telephoto sensor now, it would not be able to defeat Vivo.” He concluded bluntly: “Samsung’s cameras have no future.” While that statement might sound harsh, rumors surrounding the S26 Ultra’s camera setup suggest expectations should indeed remain modest.

With a global launch just around the corner, the Vivo X300 could be a serious alternative to the $1,300+ Galaxy S25 Ultra — especially for those who prefer a smaller phone without compromising on camera quality.
