A new Galaxy S26 Ultra leak is making the rounds, and it points to a small but noticeable change on the front of the phone. The selfie camera cutout is getting larger — about 4 mm, according to the leaker — which is quite a jump from the S25 Ultra.

If that sounds like a hint at a new sensor, it isn’t. The sensor underneath isn’t any larger. The Galaxy S25 Ultra uses a 12MP (1/3.2-inch) selfie camera, and according to Ice Universe, the S26 Ultra is sticking with the same hardware.
The larger opening is simply there to support a wider field of view, around 85 degrees. In practice, it means wider group selfies and a bit more room in video calls. Users may also notice a slight reduction in detail, since the same number of pixels are now covering a wider scene. It means your face appears less detailed when zoomed in. Still, a wider field of view for selfies can be considered an upgrade even if the sensor is unchanged.
If you’ve ever struggled to fit everyone into a shot, the wider lens will help. If you were hoping for a step up in selfie quality, this isn’t it.
The leaked render also shows something else: the bezels aren’t shrinking. They look roughly the same, maybe even a touch thicker than last year’s. While Oppo, OnePlus, and Xiaomi are pushing ultra-thin borders on their 2025 flagships, Samsung seems fine sticking to its usual symmetrical frame. As the tipster noted, the S26 Ultra’s bezel is “significantly wider than the flagships from OPPO (Find X9), OnePlus (15), and Xiaomi (17).”
