After launching the OnePlus 15 flagship, the company has teased a more affordable entry in the 15 series. The OnePlus 15R is set to debut as a budget flagship model with powerful specs. There are various upgrades, a few downgrades, and much more. So here’s everything you need to know.
OnePlus 15R: Design & Display
With the OnePlus 15 lineup, the Chinese brand made a big change in the design of its latest premium phones. The rounded rectangular metallic camera module of the OnePlus 13s is the look for the next gen devices, bringing a dual tone finish. This device measures a hefty 216 grams and offers an IP68 + IP69 rating for water and dust resistance. Once again, the alert slider has been switched out for the Plus Key on the side.
The build quality is expected to retain premium materials with glass on the back and an aluminum frame. OnePlus could release this phone in two color options, namely Charcoal Black and Mint Breeze. Meanwhile, the front sports a tall 6.83-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, which is similar to the brand’s flagship OnePlus 15 model. We can expect a high peak brightness, some kind of HDR support, and a high touch sampling rate for gaming enthusiasts.
Performance
Under the hood, the OnePlus 15R might be one of the first smartphones to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC. To recall, the model is expected to be a rebranded global version of the China exclusive OnePlus Ace 6T model, which recently surfaced on AnTuTu with a score of 3,561,559 points. This high end chipset might be paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.
An impressively massive 8,000mAh battery pack powers this device, which supports 100W wired fast charging. Other notable features include an x-axis linear motor, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, Android 16 OS based OxygenOS 16 custom skin out of the box,
Camera
Despite the various upgrades in performance and battery life, the company is making an odd downgrade with the camera system. The OnePlus 15R is expected to ship with a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP ultra wide angle lens, skipping the 50MP telephoto shooter with 2x optical zoom on its predecessor. For selfies and video calls, the front could house a 32MP camera.
Launch Date
OnePlus is set to unveil the OnePlus 15R in the global market on 17th December 2026. This device will be announced alongside the OnePlus Pad Go 2 and OnePlus Watch Lite.
