MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9600 Pro has previously been tipped to reach 5GHz clock speed. Now, a new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) adds some rough performance numbers to the picture.
According to the insider, the Dimensity 9600 Pro could deliver Geekbench 6 scores of around 4200 to 4300 for single-core performance and around 12,000 to 12,500 for multi-core.
DCS notes that these numbers are early estimates based on engineering samples, so they aren’t final, but they do give an idea of where things might land.
For context, DCS claims the previous generation’s official figures were around 4,000 for single-core and 11,000 for multi-core. That puts the projected gains of Dimensity 9600 Pro in a noticeable range on paper, though not necessarily dramatic.
What can you expect?
Part of that performance bump comes from a more aggressive CPU design. The chip is said to feature a dual super-core setup, with both cores running at clock speeds close to 5GHz. The configuration is rounded out by three “Gelas-b” and three standard “Gelas” cores.
Essentially, the Dimensity 9600 Pro will feature a 2+3+3 core configuration with an “all-big-core” design. On the graphics side, the chip is tipped to include an Arm “Magni” GPU.
Its counterpart from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is expected to deliver a performance uplift of under 20%, despite reaching similar clock speeds near 5GHz.
The chip will be based on TSMC’s N2P process. While earlier leaks mentioned potential power savings in the 25 to 30 percent range, those figures remain unverified. Even so, moving to a newer node should help balance the higher clock speeds, especially if the chip consistently pushes toward that 5GHz mark.
According to previous reports, the Vivo X500 series and the Oppo Find X10 lineup will be the first to use the Dimensity 9600 chip.
