Xiaomi‘s battery upgrade program, which recently launched for the Xiaomi 13 series, could be coming to the Xiaomi 14 lineup next. A new network access certification has hinted at a possible battery upgrade service for the Xiaomi 14 Pro.
What the Certification Shows
A device with model number 23116PN5BC has recently been re-registered for network access permission from telecom equipment authorities. And by no guess, it’s the Xiaomi 14 Pro.
So no surprises: the phone will feature a 6.73-inch 1440×3200 display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 octa-core chip clocked at 3.3 GHz, RAM options of 8GB/12GB/18GB, and storage options up to 1TB.
But there’s one key difference in the battery. The original Xiaomi 14 Pro carried a 4,880 mAh typical battery capacity. This newly certified device, however, lists a 5,000 mAh typical capacity, a 120 mAh bump. The rated capacity in both cases is 4,760 mAh, though.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Xiaomi 14 series has been re-registered for network access and is expected to be a verification device with an enlarged battery, likely used to prepare for an upcoming battery upgrade service.
Following in the Xiaomi 13’s Footsteps
Xiaomi launched its battery upgrade program in April 2026, initially covering the Xiaomi 13 series, the Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro, and 13 Ultra. Unlike standard battery replacements that swap in the same-capacity cell, the program offered genuinely higher-capacity batteries.
The Xiaomi 13’s original 4,500 mAh battery could be upgraded to 4,850 mAh, the 13 Pro’s 4,820 mAh to 5,361 mAh, and the 13 Ultra’s 5,000 mAh to 5,500 mAh. The upgrade was priced at 189 yuan, covering both the battery and labor costs.
The Xiaomi 14 series is likely the next candidate to get this treatment. Battery degradation over time sometimes forces smartphone owners to abandon their devices, which they might not have done otherwise. Xiaomi’s upgrade program directly addresses that concern.
