Gaming tablets have come a long way from niche gadgets to legit portable powerhouses, and Red Magic is stepping up the game once again. The company just teased its newest flagship, the Red Magic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, and it’s packing an insane 185Hz ultra-high refresh rate display that should make everything look buttery smooth for mobile gaming and more.

They’re planning to officially launch it on June 30 at 15:00 local time in China. From what we’ve seen so far, this tablet mixes serious performance hardware with that bold, gamer-focused aesthetic Red Magic is known for.

Apart from its upgraded 9-inch 185Hz OLED screen, a step up from last year’s 165Hz panel on the Tablet 3 Pro, it also features a striking semi-transparent back with vibrant RGB lighting integrated into the water-cooling system.

Red Magic says they used custom light-guiding materials that boost lighting uniformity by 200%. It’ll come in two cool color options: Deuterium Blade Transparent Silver Wing and Deuterium Blade Transparent Dark Night. The back is completely flat, and the company calls it a “golden size” that’s comfortable to hold in one hand for long gaming sessions.

Inside, it’s running Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, with up to 24GB of RAM and a massive 1TB of storage. Heat management is a big deal here: the new Magic Cooling system includes a piezoelectric micro-pump, RGB lighting effects, and what looks like extra fan support to keep things stable under heavy load. Battery-wise, there’s an 8,300mAh cell (up from 8,200mAh of its predecessor) with fast charging, which should give it decent staying power.

Last year’s Red Magic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro (known globally as the Red Magic Astra) used the Snapdragon 8 Elite and started around 3,999 yuan, which translates to roughly €517 at the current exchange rate. The 5 Pro feels like a solid evolution: higher refresh rate, better cooling, and a more premium transparent look that shows off the internal liquid cooling pipes.

Red Magic has built a strong name for itself by going all-in on aggressive cooling and gamer-centric features, and the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro clearly continues that tradition. The 185Hz OLED should feel fantastic in high-frame-rate games, and the see-through design with customizable RGB adds some real personality that sets it apart from regular tablets.
