Xiaomi EOL list updated

Xiaomi has dropped software support for 10 devices, meaning they are no longer eligible for any updates going forward, including feature-rich HyperOS updates and security patches. The list includes a couple of high-end Xiaomi phones, mid-range phones from POCO and Redmi, as well as Xiaomi tablets.

Let’s look at the list first, and then we’ll tell you how it will impact those devices, and what affected users should do.

These Xiaomi devices are no longer eligible for any software updates

  • Xiaomi 12
  • Xiaomi 12 Pro
  • Xiaomi 12S Ultra
  • POCO X5
  • POCO X5 Pro 5G
  • Redmi K60E
  • Redmi 10 5G
  • Xiaomi Pad 6
  • Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro
  • Xiaomi Pad 6 Max

If your device is on the list, it will not receive any kind of software updates in the future. That also means no feature updates and no security patches.

What should these Xiaomi users do?

There’s no need to panic. The device will continue to function normally as it did before. So, you can continue using it for as long as you want. However, there are a few things you must be aware of.

If your device doesn’t receive security updates regularly, it will stay on an older patch level. That means it won’t have patches for newly discovered vulnerabilities, which could result in a variety of security and privacy concerns. This could be a big deal if your phone has banking applications or sensitive information.

While there’s no need to rush for an upgrade right now, it’s best if you do so at the earliest possible. That will also give you access to the latest features and upgrades. The upcoming HyperOS 4 is expected to be a major upgrade, bringing numerous exciting features, AI upgrades, and visual changes. You can read more about HyperOS 4 here.

Now, if you are wondering about potential upgrade options, there are plenty of excellent options, including Xiaomi 17 series and Xiaomi 15T Pro, offering five major Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates.
