Casio is bringing a new limited-edition Oceanus Manta S7000 series watch to the US market. Following an initial release in Japan this past April, the OCWS7000AP1A model is now available stateside. It is priced at $1,900, and Casio is limiting production to 800 units globally.
Design Details
The watch is built primarily from titanium, which keeps the overall weight down to 83 grams. Both the case and the solid titanium band are treated with a titanium carbide coating to prevent scratching. For a connected, solar-powered analog watch, the S7000 maintains a relatively slim profile. It measures 9.5mm thick, with a case footprint of 47.5mm by 42.8mm. The band secures with a one-touch, slide-adjustable, three-fold clasp.
Visually, the design incorporates traditional Japanese materials. The watch face features a textured pattern, but the most distinct hardware detail is the three inset dials. These are made from white mother-of-pearl and dyed using natural Awa indigo, a traditional dye sourced from Tokushima Prefecture. The main dial is protected by a dual-curved sapphire crystal with an anti-glare coating, while the bezel is also made of sapphire crystal, finished with a vapor deposition process to create a blue gradient.
Internally, the S7000 runs on Casio’s Tough Solar system, allowing the internal battery to recharge using ambient light. For timekeeping accuracy, it relies on Multi-Band 6 radio control.
The watch also includes Bluetooth connectivity. By pairing it with the Casio Watches smartphone app, you can automatically sync the local time, manage world time settings across 38 time zones and 300 cities, log time and location data, and trigger a phone finder feature.
It also includes 100-meter water resistance, a tachymeter, a one-second stopwatch, and a full auto-calendar. Battery life is rated for approximately five months of normal operation on a single charge without any light exposure. If left in total darkness, a built-in power-saving function temporarily halts the analog hands, extending the standby battery life to 19 months.
