Casio is expanding its G-Shock lineup with the new G-Steel GST-B1000 series. Launching in Japan this August, the new models, specifically the GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A, focus on reducing the bulk typically associated with the G-Shock brand while maintaining its standard durability.
Design Details
The GST-B1000 measures 46.9 by 44.2 mm and sits 11.6 mm thick on the wrist. By using a bio-based carbon-reinforced resin case paired with a stainless steel bezel, Casio has managed to keep the weight down to just 58 grams.
Instead of a heavy metal link bracelet, these two specific models use a bio-based resin strap. This combination of materials is designed to make the watch more practical for daily wear compared to the heavier, all-metal G-Steel variants that preceded it.
Visually, the GST-B1000-1A opts for a stealthy all-black dial, while the GST-B1000-2A stands out with a metallic blue dial and matching blue sub-dial accents. Both models share the same silver stainless steel bezel with a subtle brick-pattern design inspired by the original G-Shock.
On the technical side, the GST-B1000 series combines Tough Solar charging with Bluetooth connectivity, enabling automatic time synchronization, smartphone-based setting adjustments, and a phone finder function via the Casio Watches app.
Aside from the connected features, the watches retain standard G-Shock specifications. They feature a Carbon Core Guard structure, are shock-resistant, and are water-resistant up to 200 meters.
The analog display is paired with standard digital functions, including a 1-second stopwatch, a 30-minute countdown timer, a daily alarm, a full auto-calendar, and a white LED backlight for low-light visibility.
Pricing and Availability
The GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A are currently available for pre-order in Japan and will officially go on sale later this month. Both models are priced at ¥60,500 ($384).
