Timex has expanded its Q Timex line in the US with the release of the Continental Chronograph. The new quartz watches lean into the current industry shift toward smaller case sizes, dropping the standard 40mm-plus dimensions usually seen on chronographs in favor of a compact 36mm stainless steel case.

Design Details
The watches measure 43mm lug-to-lug and are 11.5mm thick. It is a size that closely matches the hardware proportions of watches from the 1970s. The cases are made of stainless steel with a mix of brushed and polished finishes. They also have a fixed tachymeter bezel, which you can use with the watch’s built-in stopwatch function to calculate average speed over a set distance.

There are three specific models available at launch. For $259, you can get the TW2Y93200, which has a black dial with silver sub-dials and a red stopwatch hand. Also at $259 is the TW2Y92400, featuring an ice blue dial with black sub-dials. Both of these come on a standard silver-tone stainless steel bracelet. For $279, there is a two-tone silver and gold version (TW2Y92300) with a champagne dial and brown sub-dials.

All three models share the same basic dial layout. These have a textured finish, faceted metallic hour markers, and glow-in-the-dark paint on the hands and markers so you can read the time in low light. The glass covering the dial is a flat mineral crystal. This material is standard for watches at this price point, though it does scratch more easily than the sapphire crystal used on more expensive watches.

The watches run on a battery-powered quartz movement, which keeps time accurately without the maintenance required by mechanical watches. These come with an integrated stainless steel bracelet featuring an 11mm lug width and a deployant clasp. Timex says the band can be adjusted to fit wrists between 142mm and 205mm (about 5.6 to 8.1 inches).
These are water-resistant up to 50 meters. Timex says this is fine for light swimming, but these are not built for snorkeling or diving. The company also warns against pressing the chronograph buttons while the watch is submerged. The Q Timex Continental Chronograph series is available now for purchase from the Timex US website.
In related news, Timex has recently introduced three new Automatic E Line watches featuring a retro square case, alongside its latest vintage Quartz E Line watches, which showcase elegant sunray dials.
