Last week, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station shared detailed information about the OnePlus 16’s camera setup. He has now posted new details about another key part of the upcoming flagship. The latest information points to a battery capacity that could make the OnePlus 16 one of the most endurance-focused flagships of its generation.

OnePlus 16 tipped to get a 9,000mAh battery

According to DCS, the OnePlus 16 will feature a 9,000mAh battery. While the OnePlus Turbo 6 in China and OnePlus Nord 6 in India already pack 9,000mAh batteries, the OnePlus 16 would be the first numbered-series OnePlus flagship to offer such a large battery. The phone is also said to use Oppo’s high-energy battery technology with support for low-voltage discharge, which should help accommodate the larger capacity without capacity restrictions.

The large battery will complement the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor, which is also tipped to power the OnePlus 16. DCS previously indicated that the phone could feature a 165Hz display refresh rate across more system and application scenarios, with supported games potentially reaching 185Hz. These specifications suggest that OnePlus is targeting both everyday endurance and high-performance gaming.

Previous reports have revealed that the OnePlus 16’s 9,000mAh battery is expected to support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The phone is also tipped to feature an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, an X-axis vibration motor and IP68/IP69-rated protection. It is expected to run Android 17 with ColorOS 17.

The camera system is also shaping up to be a significant upgrade, with the OnePlus 16 reportedly featuring a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel 3x periscope telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. A 50-megapixel autofocus selfie camera is also expected.

The OnePlus 16 is expected to launch in China by early October, although OnePlus has yet to confirm the launch date or specifications.
