Performance

The Xiaomi 18 Fold uses the 3nm XRing O3 with a 10-core CPU and Arm G2-Ultra NX MC16 GPU. Samsung employs the 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with Oryon cores and Adreno 840 graphics. Both target flagship performance, but Samsung’s Snapdragon platform offers a more familiar high-end Android performance proposition.

Battery and Charging

Xiaomi packs a substantially larger 6000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 67W wired, 50W wireless and reverse wired charging. Samsung uses a 4800mAh battery with 45W wired, 20W wireless and reverse wireless charging. Xiaomi’s combination is considerably more aggressive and should appeal to power users who prioritize endurance and faster charging.

Xiaomi has the clear hardware advantage here, pairing a larger battery with faster wired and wireless charging. Samsung remains capable, but Xiaomi is considerably better equipped for heavy daily use.

Main and Secondary Lenses

Xiaomi brings a Leica-backed triple-camera setup led by a 200MP main sensor with OIS, alongside a 50MP 3x telephoto and 50MP ultrawide. Samsung uses a 50MP main camera and 50MP ultrawide system. Xiaomi also adds laser autofocus and a color spectrum sensor, creating a more versatile camera package.

Selfie Camera

Both foldables use separate 16MP selfie cameras on Xiaomi and 10MP cameras on Samsung for their respective displays. Xiaomi’s higher-resolution sensors offer more capture detail, while Samsung supports 4K selfie video at up to 60fps. For creators and video callers, Samsung’s video capability is a useful advantage.

Xiaomi offers the stronger and more versatile camera hardware, especially with its dedicated telephoto lens and 200MP main sensor. Samsung counters with stronger selfie-video specifications, but Xiaomi’s overall camera system is richer.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold is priced around $1,600 / ₹155,000, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is priced around $1,900 / ₹180,000. That gives Xiaomi a substantial price advantage while still delivering flagship-grade specifications across its display, cameras, processor and battery.

Is the price justified? 

Samsung’s premium is easier to understand for buyers who value One UI, Samsung DeX, seven major Android updates and its established foldable ecosystem. Xiaomi, however, delivers considerably more battery capacity, faster charging and more elaborate camera hardware for less money. On specifications alone, Xiaomi offers stronger value.

Verdict

Xiaomi provides more hardware for the asking price, making its value proposition stronger. Samsung’s additional cost is more closely tied to software support, ecosystem features and the established Galaxy foldable experience.
