Oppo announced its latest smartwatches today alongside the new Find X10 smartphones. The release includes the new Oppo Watch S2, which focuses on a thinner design and updated health sensors, as well as a new Titanium Moon color option for the existing Watch X3.
Oppo Watch S2 Specifications
The Watch S2 has a 1.46-inch AMOLED screen and a stainless steel case. Oppo designed this model to be relatively thin, measuring 8.9mm thick when excluding the rear sensor bump. The watch body weighs 34.5 grams. It is available in Dynamic Orange, Mist Pink, and Mountain Shadow Gray.
The device comes with a segmented fluoroelastomer strap that Oppo says is thinner and more breathable than the straps used on previous models. The screen has a standard brightness of 600 nits, though it can reach up to 3,000 nits in specific outdoor sports modes to remain visible in direct sunlight.
For fitness, the Watch S2 introduces a feature called FatMax. Instead of using standard heart-rate zones, the software calculates a personalized target heart rate for fat burning based on the user’s height, weight, resting heart rate, and VO2 max.
During a workout, the watch provides real-time prompts to help users stay within that specific heart-rate range. It also estimates the grams of fat and carbohydrates burned. The watch supports over 100 sports modes and includes dual-frequency GPS for outdoor route tracking.
The sensor array on the back of the watch has been updated. It includes an eight-channel optical heart-rate sensor, a 16-channel blood-oxygen sensor, an ECG electrode, and a temperature sensor. You can run a 60-second health check that logs 13 different metrics at once. Standard tracking features like sleep monitoring, sleep apnea screening, and all-day SpO2 monitoring are also included.
The Watch S2 runs ColorOS Watch 17 and features Fluid Cloud for live updates such as transit and food deliveries. It can connect to two smartphones simultaneously to receive notifications from both devices. It also supports NFC for transit cards and gesture controls.
Battery life is estimated at seven days for standard use, or up to 10 days on a battery-saver setting. Using the always-on display reduces the battery life to about four days. The watch is rated 5ATM for water resistance and has IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water protection.
Pricing and Availability
The Oppo Watch S2 starts at 1,599 yuan ($238), while the new Titanium Moon version of the Watch X3 is priced at 2,799 yuan ($418). Both watches will be available in China starting September 24.
