The Optoma Photon Beam PK52 is the kind of projector that can completely change the way movies and shows are enjoyed at home. Its combination of a large 4K image, strong brightness, laser light source, and flexible installation makes it well suited for anyone looking to build a premium home entertainment setup.
Priced at Rs 2,95,000, the PK52 is certainly an investment, but it delivers the sort of big-screen experience that is difficult to replicate with a conventional TV. It supports 4K UHD resolution, 3,500 lumens of brightness, HDR, and screen sizes ranging from 28 to 300 inches.
4More than just a movie projector
The PK52 works well as the centerpiece of a broader entertainment setup. It has two HDMI 2.0 inputs, with one supporting ARC, along with a 3.5mm audio output and USB-A power output. However, there is no built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, so wireless phone casting isn’t available out of the box.
I also connected my Galaxy Z Fold 8 review unit to the projector using an Alogic universal dock adapter. This isn’t really a setup I would recommend for getting work done, since the PK52 is primarily designed for home entertainment, but it was useful for quickly viewing YouTube content on the large screen. The phone effectively acted as the source while the projector handled the big-screen experience.
I also tested it with gaming, and the support for 4K at up to 60Hz and 1080p at up to 120Hz gives the projector some useful flexibility. A larger projection also makes games feel considerably more immersive, particularly with racing and visually rich titles.
For casual viewing, the built-in 15W speaker is useful and means you can get started without immediately connecting external speakers. For a premium home theater, though, pairing it with a dedicated soundbar or speaker system would make the experience even better.
The projector itself is also fairly compact for its capabilities, weighing around 3.4kg, so it isn’t excessively difficult to reposition when needed.
