OnePlus is putting a stronger focus on competitive mobile gaming ahead of the OnePlus 16 launch. The company says the phone will deliver industry-leading low-latency network performance.

OnePlus China President Li Jie highlighted the networking side, claiming the OnePlus 16 posts top-tier gaming latency results. It’s the first phone to feature the company’s self-developed “G3 e-sports network chip,” built specifically for low-latency gaming.

According to the company official, this chip helps cut latency across different gaming scenarios. It works together with a new “anti-interference e-sports antenna” that stays stable even when your hand firmly grips the antenna area. There’s also a 360° surround antenna design aimed at keeping the signal reliable in crowded places like dorms, cafés, and subways. The OnePlus 16 is set to launch today (October 12) at 19:00 China time.

Leaked specs shared by tipster @DigitalChatStation point to a solid gaming-focused package. Expect a 6.78″ 1.5K BOE X4 flat display that can hit up to 185 Hz (with a 165 Hz system-wide ultra-high refresh rate) and 1.15 mm equal bezels on all four sides. The camera setup includes a 50 MP front sensor and a rear trio of 200 MP HPE main, 50 MP ultra-wide, and 50 MP IMX882 3x periscope telephoto.

Power comes from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme 6, paired with a big 9,000 mAh battery that supports 100 W wired and 50 W wireless charging. Other notable bits include a relatively large X-axis linear motor, master-level symmetrical dual speakers, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, full IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K ratings, and USB 3.2 Gen1.

These networking upgrades continue OnePlus’s broader gaming push, which has already focused on high frame rates and specialized kernels. By tackling the real-world signal issues that often ruin multiplayer matches, the company is trying to give players a more consistent edge.
