Vivo is expanding beyond smartphones with the Vision Discovery Edition, its first mixed reality (MR) headset. Showcased in India alongside the Vivo X Fold 6 at the Vivo NEXT event on October 6, the headset offers a glimpse into the company’s ambitions in spatial computing, entertainment, and gaming.

I got to try the Vivo Vision Discovery Edition at the event, exploring its interface, controls, virtual environments, and gaming features. Although my session was brief, the experience was positive. However, the headset is currently not available for purchase in India, with no confirmed retail price or consumer sales date.

I tried the Vigo game, which involved touching virtual objects and moving them around using hand gestures. Interacting directly with digital objects made the experience engaging and offered a glimpse of how mixed reality could change gaming.

Another game featured virtual musical instruments that users could touch and interact with. I could not try it because of the time constraints, but it demonstrated the potential for creative experiences beyond conventional gaming.
