Xiaomi has introduced the Mijia Desktop Water Purifier 3 on its Youpin platform in China, priced at 1,499 yuan ($224). The new countertop water purifier features a reverse osmosis (RO) filtration system, instant heating technology, a built-in RISC-V chip, and smart features such as NFC-based cup recognition and app connectivity.

The purifier uses a dual-filter, nine-stage purification system built around a DuPont RO membrane. According to Xiaomi, the system has a filtration precision of 0.0001 micrometers to filter out heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, pesticide residues, and microplastics. The internal water pathways are free of silicone and BPA, and the device carries a maternal and infant-grade certification.
Instead of leaving the water stripped of minerals, the purifier uses a slow-release system to add six minerals, including calcium, magnesium, zinc, and strontium. It also features a RISC-V chip that monitors water quality and usage to optimize RO filter replacement, with a lifespan of up to three years.
The main unit houses a 6-liter water tank divided into a 4.2-liter raw water section and a 1.8-liter wastewater compartment. This physical separation prevents rejected water from mixing back into the clean supply. It also includes a removable 2-liter purified water pitcher on the side that can be detached and kept in the fridge or moved to another room.
For heating, the purifier relies on a 2100W thick-film heating element that dispenses hot water in about three seconds. It has a maximum warm-water dispensing rate of 786mL per minute. You can adjust the water temperature from 40°C to 99°C in 1°C increments via the Mijia app, or use the five preset temperatures on the device’s touchscreen.
The purifier features an NFC dispensing system with three stickers for non-metallic cups, allowing it to automatically dispense water at preset temperatures and volumes. It operates at around 45dB(A) during filtration and includes dual-color lighting to indicate water temperature.
It also supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Xiaomi HyperConnect. The compact countertop design measures 255 x 360 x 398mm and requires no installation.
