Xiaomi is adding a new appliance to its smart home lineup with the Mijia Smart Variable Pressure Rice Cooker 3L. The device is currently available for preorder in China on JD.com for 1,499 yuan (~$224) and is scheduled to go on sale on October 30.
Mijia Pressure Rice Cooker 3L Specifications
The cooker features a dark gray exterior with a tempered glass top panel. For the interface, Xiaomi opted for a full-color touchscreen with large fonts, a design choice intended to make the device easier to navigate for elderly users. It has a 3-liter capacity, which yields about two to ten bowls of rice, and includes a removable 304 stainless steel inner lid and a steam tray for easier cleaning.
Inside, the rice cooker features a 3mm-thick titanium composite pot with a fluorine-free surface and plasma-sprayed titanium technology. It meets China’s Level 2 nonstick standard without using traditional Teflon coatings.
The rice cooker features a three-stage variable pressure system with four pressure modes ranging from 1.0x to 2.0x. It uses 1.2x pressure for cooking white rice and 2.0x high pressure for tougher mixed grains, eliminating the need for pre-soaking.
Heating is handled by a 1175W induction heating (IH) system with a 13,000mm-long surrounding coil. This setup delivers heat from the bottom and sides, while a temperature-control ring at the top helps reduce condensation. The cooker also uses a continuous boiling function that sustains a boil for up to 39 minutes.
On the software side, the rice cooker offers over 3,000 cooking programs for different rice varieties and nine customizable texture settings based on stickiness and firmness. It also features a 14-minute quick-cooking mode for small portions, although automatic pressure release adds to the total cooking time.
Because it is a Mijia device, the rice cooker supports Xiaomi HyperConnect, Xiao AI voice commands, and Mijia app integration for remote control and access to over 200 cloud recipes. It also features automatic lid locking, Hall sensors, and 16 safety protections. Xiaomi offers a three-year warranty on the main unit and one year on the inner pot.
