It’s been a couple of years since Nokia and MediaTek have been continually working on 5G technology. Recently, they have successfully completed the Helio M70 5G Modem testing with the Nokia AirScale 5G Base Station. It’s a great achievement in order to facilitate the next wave of 5G connectivity.

Further, the new setup will be 3GPP Rel-15 New Radio (NR) standard compliant. This ensures that it will be compatible across various network architecture and connected devices on any frequency band.

Both the companies worked quite strenuously to setup the compatible environment for testing. They used a 3.5 GHz band N78 standalone connection with 100 MHz channel bandwidth and 30 KHz subcarrier spacing. The Helio M70 and Nokia AirScale 5G base station duo were joined by physical layer integration and protocol layer testing to get optimal user experience. It will allow users to enjoy enhanced Mobile Broadband, Ultra HD content, and applications seamlessly.  The new setup will let users enjoy faster data without any problem.

The new Base station 5G test ensures that it compiles all the formalities of every 5G frequency band. It will help in flawless operations across different regions using the new module from Nokia and MediaTek. Surprisingly, Helio M70 5G modem is the only chip which is compatible with all networks from 2G to 5G.

Speaking at the occasion TL Lee, General manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communication business unit said, “5G connectivity will power a new wave of innovation and make reliable connectivity truly accessible to people and enterprises around the globe.” Further, he added, “We very much appreciate our open and productive collaboration with Nokia, which helped to ensure the market readiness of the Helio M70 solution. Together we are committed to enabling a seamless 5G experience that brings consumers ultra-fast connectivity while maximizing battery life.”

On the other hand, Nokia ought to collaborate further with MediaTek to explore 5G technology even more. Mark Atkinson, head of Nokia’s 5G & Small Cells Business added that “We continue to collaborate with MediaTek to support commercial 5G launches during 2019.”  Nokia is fulfilling its commitment towards broad 5G ecosystem with the advent of Nokia AirScale 5G base station.

Already, major manufacturers are working vigorously to attain 5G speeds. Huawei is ready with its Balong 5000 modem chip while Qualcomm is already here with X50 Modem chipsets. Moreover, Qualcomm has gone a step ahead with the recent inception X55 Modem chip which can attain maximum transfer speed of 7 Gbps.
