Transsion is a brand present in a few regions only, but it makes amazing phones. One of them is the Tecno Camon 17 Pro, one of the best and most original phones in its price range. Is Tecno able to compete with other mainstream smartphone manufacturers? We think yes if we talk about budget phones like the Camon 17 Pro. And in order to demonstrate it, we decided to publish a specs comparison between two best-buys of the actual market. When it comes to budget phones, Realme and POCO are kings. That is why we chose the Realme 8 and the POCO M3 Pro 5G for this comparison.

Design

My favorite design in this trio is the one of the Realme 8, not only for the look but also because it has a thinner and lighter body, with a thickness of just 8 mm and a weight of 177 grams. Despite that, it has the same battery capacity as the Tecno Camon 17 Pro and the POCO M3 Pro 5G, and it is even more compact thanks to its smaller display, so it is the best for one-handed users. Last but not least, it has an in-display fingerprint reader.

 

Display

If you need the best display, go for the Realme 8 without thinking twice. Only the Realme 8 is equipped with an AMOLED display, that is why it is able to show more brilliant colors and deep blacks. Further, as said above, it has an in-display fingerprint reader making the authentication more comfortable. And it is not all, as the Realme 8 comes with the HDR10 certification improving the image quality on the streaming platforms and it has a very high peak brightness (it goes up to 1000 nits). Tecno Camon 17 Pro has a very wide display, but it is an IPS panel so the image quality is inferior. The POCO M3 Pro 5G sits in the middle with its 6.5-inch display, but still an IPS panel.

 

Hardware/Software

The most powerful hardware belongs to the POCO M3 Pro 5G. First of all, it is the only one supporting the 5G connectivity. Further, it has a processor built at 7 nm, a better production process compared to the 12 nm of the Helio G95. Last but not least, the Dimensity 700 is stronger than the Helio G95. On the other hand, you can get more RAM with the Tecno Camon 17 Pro: up to 8 GB. But it lacks 5G support and it has an inferior chipset, especially in terms of power management. All the phones run Android 11.

 

Camera

The most advanced rear cameras come with Tecno Camon 17 Pro and Realme 8. They have a 64 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a pair of 2 MP cameras for macros and depth calculation. The Tecno Camon 17 Pro adds a much better 48 MP front camera including dual LED flash.

 

Battery

The battery capacity is the same for each device, but the Realme 8 should provide a longer battery life because of its AMOLED display. Further, it comes with a faster 30W charging technology.

Tecno Camon 17 Pro costs Rs. 16,999 / $233, Realme 8 starts from the same price, and POCO M3 Pro starts from Rs. 14,499 / $200. POCO M3 Pro 5G has a higher value for money, but Realme 8 wins the comparison due to its AMOLED display. However, if you do not mind about it, you could find Tecno Camon 17 Pro better due to its amazing front camera.
