Earlier today, POCO announced that Himanshu Tandon has been appointed as the head of POCO India. Other than that, the announcement also teased a major announcement that has now been made.

The Xiaomi sub-brand is planning on introducing new F series devices in the global market and India. The tweet from POCO states that the next-gen F series devices will be focused on “display and sound.”

The POCO F4 GT, which is a rebranded Redmi K50 Gaming Edition has already been launched in the Europe and UK markets. So going off of that, we can expect that the rest of the POCO F4 series will also be rebranded Redmi K50 series devices.

Redmi K50 Pro

So far, Redmi has two devices in the K50 series other than the gaming edition. These are the Redmi K50 and the K50 Pro. Both of these devices come with a 2K resolution AMOLED display and powerful stereo dual speakers. The K50 comes powered by the Dimensity 8100 SoC while the K50 Pro houses the Dimensity 9000 chipset.

Both the devices also feature triple-camera setups for photography with the pro model housing a 108-megapixel (OIS) + 8-megapixel ultra-wide + 2-megapixel macro. The K50 replaces the 108-megapixel sensor with a 40-megapixel sensor while the rest of the camera setup remains the same.

The K50 Pro has a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging while the vanilla K50 has a larger 5,500 battery with 67W fast charging. These are likely to be the specifications for the upcoming F series smartphones in the global market. The device can also debut with totally different specifications in the Indian market as the POCO F4 with model number 220212111RI (Indian variant) recently appeared on the IMEI database.
