According to a recent reports, the first Apple Car, expected to hit the market in 2026, will not be fully autonomous. Recently, some leakster provided the latest figures on Apple’s autonomous vehicle fleet, highlighting an increase in the number of drivers from 196 to 201, the highest in recent times. The vehicle fleet, however, has remained steady at 67. Since January 13, 2023, Apple’s test fleet has experienced one more collision, bringing the total count to 16. However, it’s important to note that even the most minor accidents must be reported, and this recent incident falls into that category. No one was injured in the collision, which was described as a case of “curb rash” while the vehicle was in manual mode.

The incident report reads, “On February 21st, a test vehicle operating in manual driving mode was making a U-turn from Westbound to Eastbound Homestead Road at the intersection with Kennewick Drive in Sunnyvale when the right front tire and rim made contact with the curb. No injuries were reported, and law enforcement was not called to the scene. The test vehicle sustained damage to the right front rim.”
