Xiaomi has been working on HyperOS 4 for quite a while now. The Android 17-based software is expected to begin rolling out later this year, but a beta program will launch months earlier for testers. Well, we may finally have a specific date for when that could begin, and that is August 7.
According to information shared by the Chinese tipster, CoolAPK (via Ximitime), Xiaomi will start teasing HyperOS 4 on August 5. On the same day, the beta application could go live, while the launch event is expected to be held on the next day, August 6. The very next day, the first batch of beta rollout may kick off.
Please keep in mind that the information is based solely on a leak and has no official confirmation. Hence, it’s advised to consume it with a pinch of salt. Even if the leak proves true, it would apply to users in China. International users might need to wait a few more weeks to get into the beta program.
As for the changes, HyperOS 4 is expected to offer major visual refinements, including an upgraded Liquid Glass design with real-time light field rendering, redesigned 2.5D icons with enhanced depth and shadows, and reworked system animations. The Control Center and notifications cards could feature frosted, translucent layering.
HyperOS 4 is said to extend the Leica partnership to introduce Leica-themed icon colorways, light effects, and system sounds. It could introduce a dynamic, island-style interface element at the top of the screen for Xiaomi’s AI assistant and real-time alerts. The upcoming software could also offer stacked widgets, and the lock-screen notification may follow a cleaner, stacked layout. You can read more about the upcoming changes here.
