Redmi is preparing to launch the K100 series flagship smartphones in China, but discussions around the brand’s future naming strategy have already started. A Redmi product manager, Mia Xinxin, has hinted that the company could move directly to the K200 series for its next-generation flagship lineup instead of following a K110 name.
Redmi K200 name teased after K100 series launch plans
The naming discussion began after fans suggested that Redmi should call its future flagship series K200 once the K100 lineup completes its cycle. Responding to the suggestion, Redmi product manager Mia said that the K110 name feels “a bit strange,” hinting that the company may consider a different approach for upcoming models.
Several smartphone brands have adopted a similar strategy after crossing the 100 mark in their naming schemes. Honor’s number series and Vivo’s X series, for example, have continued with larger jumps instead of moving through every number. Redmi could follow a similar pattern by introducing the K200 series as the successor to the K100 lineup.
The upcoming Redmi K100 series is scheduled to launch on Aug. 11 and will arrive with a different release strategy compared to previous generations. The company is expected to first introduce the K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max, while the standard K100 model will reportedly arrive later.
The Redmi K100 Pro series will debut with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series flagship platform, while the K100 Pro Max will feature the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Both models are expected to focus heavily on gaming, with features such as a 185Hz gaming display mode, dedicated gaming antenna technology, and enhanced audio tuning.
