Timex has added three new models to its Marlin Neo Classic Chronograph lineup in the US. The new watches are available now on the company’s website, starting at $279. The release focuses on bringing mid-century design elements to a standard, battery-powered quartz watch.
Design Details
All three watches share the same core hardware. They feature a 40mm brushed and polished stainless steel case, measuring 13mm thick with a 48.5mm lug-to-lug distance. Inside, the watches run on a standard quartz analog movement powered by an SR920SW battery.
Timex opted for a domed acrylic crystal instead of mineral glass or sapphire. While acrylic scratches more easily than modern materials, it is period-accurate for vintage-style watches and can be polished to remove minor surface scuffs. The watches also carry a 50-meter water resistance rating, which is adequate for light swimming but not intended for diving.
Alongside standard timekeeping, the dial includes a sub-second dial, a 24-hour sub-dial, and a chronograph function for tracking elapsed time. The outer edges of the dial feature two distinct measurement tools: a red tachymeter scale for calculating speed over a known distance, and a blue telemeter scale, which measures distance based on the speed of sound (such as timing the gap between seeing lightning and hearing thunder). The hands include standard luminescent fill for visibility in the dark.
Pricing
Timex is offering the watch in three specific configurations. The most expensive model (TW3A00300) costs $319 and pairs a cream dial featuring metallic blue Arabic numerals with a stainless steel bracelet and a butterfly deployant clasp.
The other two models are priced at $279 and swap the metal bracelet for 20mm leather straps equipped with quick-release spring bars. One variant (TW6A01200) uses the same cream dial as the bracelet model but comes with a black leather strap.
The final model (TW3A00200), which is currently listed as out of stock, features a silver-tone dial with light blue sub-dials and a brown leather strap.
