A new supply-chain leak suggests Apple is tweaking its ultra-thin iPhone Air for a second generation that aims to look even sleeker while fixing one of the first model’s biggest complaints.

According to Korean tipster yeux1122 on the Naver forum, the iPhone Air 2 is expected to come in at around 5.2 mm thick. That’s 0.4 mm thinner than the original’s 5.6 mm.
Normally you’d expect a thinner body to mean a smaller battery, but Apple is reportedly working on higher-energy-density cells that could actually push capacity past the first Air’s 3,149 mAh. Some earlier rumors floated a number closer to 3,500 mAh, which would hopefully translate to better real-world battery life.
The titanium frame that made the first Air feel so light is expected to stick around. The phone is also said to pick up the smaller Dynamic Island matching the iPhone 18 Pro models, which would free up a little more screen space.
The original Air’s single rear lens got a lot of flak. Leaks now point to a dual setup: a 48MP ultra-wide sitting next to a 48MP main sensor. That should give people more options for landscapes, group shots, and general creative shots.
Inside, the Air 2 is expected to pack the same A20 Pro chip that’s lined up for the iPhone 18 Pro models, plus an upgraded N2 wireless chip and Apple’s custom C2 baseband. Those pieces are supposed to work together to keep power consumption and heat under control.
All of this is still just rumor territory, so things could change. The iPhone Air 2 is widely expected to land in spring 2027 alongside the regular iPhone 18 and the more affordable iPhone 18e. It looks like Apple is focused on polishing the ultra-thin idea rather than just repeating the first generation’s compromises.
