Apple has been continuously launching new devices, and after the iPad mini, MacBook Pro with M6, and iMac M6, it today unveiled its much-awaited first OLED notebook, the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display. The 14- and 16-inch models bring tandem OLED and Touch to Mac for the first time, paired with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, Dynamic Island, and up to 24 hours of battery life.
MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR specifications and features
The headline change is PROLED XDR, a tandem OLED panel with up to 2,000 nits peak HDR and SDR brightness, a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, ProMotion up to 120Hz, and both P3 and Adobe RGB coverage. Touch is built into the panel rather than layered on top, and a redesigned hinge keeps the lid steady when you press the screen.
Dynamic Island lands on Mac as the home for Spotlight, Live Activities, and Siri AI, matching what earlier reports had pointed toward. Both sizes are lighter too: the 14-inch drops to about 3 pounds and the 16-inch to about 4 pounds.
Inside sit M5 Pro and M5 Max with up to 128GB of unified memory and storage up to 16TB, plus three Thunderbolt 5 ports, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, and a six-speaker system with 50 percent deeper bass. The machines run macOS 27 with Apple Intelligence, capping a redesign the October event preview had set up.
MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR price and availability
In the US, the 14-inch M5 Pro starts at $2,899 and the 16-inch M5 Pro at $3,399. M5 Max configurations start at $4,499 for the 14-inch and $4,799 for the 16-inch. Pre-orders began October 28 on apple.com and the Apple Store app in 30 countries and regions, with units arriving from Friday, November 6.
