HMD has officially launched the Nokia 2360 Flip, days after announcing the HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition. Like that phone, the new 2360 Flip is aimed at school students or seniors with its Family Assist feature that allows a relative to set it up and manage it from their own smartphone.
However, the Nokia 2360 Flip isn’t a direct follow-up to the HMD 2660 Flip. The latter supports 4G, while the Nokia 2360 Flip is a simpler device that works only on 2G GSM networks (900/1800MHz). Many carriers have switched off 2G, so whether you can use this phone depends a lot on where you live.

Set up from your own phone
You install Family Assist, which is free on Google Play and the App Store, and use it to set up the Nokia 2360 Flip remotely. The app talks to the phone over SMS, so the person using it doesn’t need a data plan. You can add contacts, set reminders, change the volume, and configure the SOS button. If a number changes or there’s a new doctor to add, you can update it from wherever you are.
The Nokia 2360 Flip also has a dedicated SOS button. Hold it for three seconds, and the phone calls a pre-set number and texts up to five emergency contacts at the same time. You choose who gets notified, and what the message says, in Family Assist.

HMD also pitches the Nokia 2360 Flip as a first phone for children. The controls are built into the phone and protected by a Family PIN, so you don’t need the app for this part. School Mode limits the phone to the clock and emergency calls. You can also restrict calls and SMS to a list of approved contacts, and block individual features such as the camera or games in any combination.
Design and specs
The Nokia 2360 Flip has a 2.8-inch QVGA main display with large menu icons, while you also get a 1.77-inch QQVGA screen on the outside. It has a built-in loudspeaker, and the phone supports hearing aids (HAC2011).

Like every feature phone, the Nokia 2360 Flip has a removable 1,450mAh battery. It is rated for up to 15 days of standby or 27.5 hours of talk time. The phone comes in Charcoal, Burgundy Red, and Teal.

Price and Availability
HMD hasn’t shared a price or said which markets will get the Nokia 2360 Flip. It also isn’t built for apps like Google Maps or YouTube. If you need those on a simple phone, our list of dumb phones with Google Maps and YouTube support covers options that have them.
