OPPO Reno8 vs OPPO Reno8 T: Specs Comparison

    7

In the middle of last year, the OPPO Reno8 made its official debut in the global market. The vanilla version is a very good mid-ranger, with a beautiful design and well-balanced specifications. Several months later, earlier this month, another variant of the lineup made its debut: the OPPO Reno8 T. It is another midrange phone launched in the global market and it is another interesting phone in terms of value for money due to its affordable price. If you are trying to understand which of these phones is the best, here you can find a comparison between the main specifications of the OPPO Reno8 and the OPPO Reno8 T (4G version).

    Design

The design of both phones is not so similar, even though they belong to the same series. The OPPO Reno8 has a plastic design but is very elegant, including a rectangle-shaped camera module protruding gradually from the back cover, while the Reno8 T has a leather back with circular camera modules. The Reno8 T has more or less the same dimensions and weight as the Reno8, with dimensions of 160.8 x 73.8 x 7.8 mm and a weight of 180g. In contrast, the Reno8 measures 160.6 x 73.4 x 7.7 mm and weighs 179g. Both phones have a plastic frame, but the Reno8 T comes in a special variant with a leather back. There is also a variant with a glass back.

    Display

As mentioned earlier in the specs table, these phones have similar 6.4-inch AMOLED displays with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ certification, as well as an in-display fingerprint scanner. However, the Reno8 T has a slightly wider panel with a diagonal of 6.43 inches. The peak brightness is the same, with 800 nits. If you need to decide which of these phones is the best for you, then you should not look at the displays, you would better focus on their other features. Note that the OPPO Reno8 T is the only one with stereo speakers.

    Specs & Software

The Reno8 is equipped with the Dimensity 1300 chipset from Mediatek, while the Reno8 T has the Helio G99 chipset, also from Mediatek. The Dimensity 1300 is a more powerful chipset with eight cores clocked at 3 GHz, while the Helio G99 has eight cores clocked at 2.2 GHz. Further, the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 also comes with 5G connectivity, which is absent on the Mediatek Helio G99. However, the Reno8 T has a larger storage option, with 256GB of internal storage and a microSD slot, compared to the Reno8’s maximum of 256 GB (without the expandable storage). The vanilla version ships with Android 12 out of the box (even though it is already updated to Android 13), while the OPPO Reno8 T ships with Android 13 and ColorOS 13.

    Camera

The camera department is where the OPPO Reno8 takes the lead. It has a triple camera setup on the rear, with a 50 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP depth sensor. On the other hand, the Reno8 T has a triple camera setup with a 100 MP main sensor, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Both phones have the same 32MP front-facing camera for selfies. Even though the Reno8T has a higher resolution for the main sensor, actually the main camera of the vanilla version has better performance simply because it is a better sensor. Further, the vanilla version is the only one with an ultrawide camera and this is another added value.

    Battery

The Reno8 T has a larger battery capacity of 5000 mAh, compared to the Reno8’s 4500 mAh. And that is the reason why it is able to provide a longer battery life on a single charge. However, the charging speed of the Reno8 T is slower, with a 33W fast charging capability, while the Reno8 has an 80W fast charging capability.

    Price

The OPPO Reno8 is available in the global market with a price tag of $635/€599 (EU), while you need just $423/€399 in order to grab a unit of the OPPO Reno8 T. However, the former is a bit superior. Which one would you pick?
