Design
The winner of the design comparison is the Red Magic 8 Pro. It comes with premium materials including glass for the back and aluminum for the frame (to be accurate, it is aviation aluminum). It has a display with almost invisible bezels and with an under-display front camera, so you cannot even see its front camera on the panel. The rear side comes in a special color option with a transparent cover, something really amazing. The bezels around the display of the Asus ROG Phone 6 are thicker and they make the phone less impressive, but it is still a very interesting phone thanks to the presence of RGB lights on the rear side and premium materials (glass for the back, protected by Gorilla Glass, and an aluminum frame. It also provides the IPX4 certification making it water resistant.
Display
If you are a gamer, you will like the display of the ASUS ROG Phone 6 more than the one found on the Red Magic 8 Pro because it has a higher refresh rate: of up to 165 Hz. For the rest, it is a great AMOLED panel. It has a diagonal of 6.78 inches, a Full HD+ resolution, HDR10+ certification, a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The phone also comes with pressure sensitive zones that you can use as gaming triggers. The Red Magic 8 Pro has an AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a Full HD+ resolution, and it comes with gaming triggers as well on the side. The gaming triggers have a 520 Hz touch sampling rate, simply amazing for gamers.
Specs & Software
The most advanced hardware department belongs to the Red Magic 8 Pro. It is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform built with a 4 nm production process and running at a max frequency of 3.2 GHz thanks to its Cortex X3 CPU. Alongside the chipset, there is a very advanced cooling system including a physical cooling fan, unlike almost all the other phones out there. The SoC is paired with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of native storage. The Red Magic 8 Pro runs Android 13 out of the box, customized by the sixth version of Redmagic OS. With the Asus ROG Phone 6, you get a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform running at a max frequency of 3.19 GHz and paired with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 native storage.
Camera
The cameras of these two phones are not so different, but you can get something more with the Asus ROG Phone 6. To be accurate, it has better secondary sensors: a 13 MP ultrawide shooter and a 5 MP macro camera, paired with a 50 MP main sensor.
Battery
The Asus ROG Phone 6 and the Red Magic 8 Pro come with huge batteries: 6000 mAh. The Nubia flagship charges faster thanks to 80W fast charging, but only in the Chinese market. In the global one, it has 65W fast charging just like the ROG Phone.
Price
The Red Magic 8 Pro starts from $706/€649, while the ROG Phone 6 costs more than $1088/€1000. The Nubia flagship wins the comparison because of its better hardware and higher value for money.
