Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 Elevates Meta Quest 3 with its Exceptional Features and Sensor Support

Qualcomm has remained an exception in the game of the smartphone chipset industry with the launch of some quality SoCs over time. It has remained the perfect choice for the Android OEMs for their respective smartphones. The company seems extending the same prowess over to the XR and AR platforms with the launch of the new Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 and Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, respectively. The powerful features and multiple sensor support have made it to the Meta’s Quest 3 VR goggles.

Must See: Qualcomm’s New Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 Processor is a Secret Rebrand of Last Year’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 1

Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 Features and Improvements

Much-awaited upgrade for the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 is finally here after a wait of over 3 years. But, considering the specifications and features, it seems worth the wait.

The new chipset offers a 2.5x increase in GPU performance, an 8x improvement in AI performance, and significantly more efficiency. As per layman’s terms, the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 can power two 3K displays and can simultaneously manage 10 cameras and sensors at a time.

Considering the performance and the complex tasks it performs, the size is significantly small and the company has even managed to calibrate the power demand. Speaking on the occasion Qualcomm’s VP and GM of XR, said, “The key challenges are on power, latency, size and then performance — and performance, of course, is very much tied to display resolution,” he said. “I cannot put 100 watts on your head. At best, maybe 20. Ideally, closer to 10 and 15. So that’s the magic that we have to work: how to put it all in one piece of silicone, that is affordable.”

The Snapdragon XR2 offers performance on par with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The chipset extends support for WiFi 7, 3K resolution for Eye, and brings full-color passthrough support for a comfortable viewing experience. It does not require any external battery due to increased power efficiency. The better AI capabilities have compelled VR makers like Meta to use it in Meta Quest 3. However, the improved connectivity options with surely enable lower latency and network lags.

The advancements in the chip have led to improved load times, crips details while playing immersive games, and enhanced better life. The Meta Quest 3’s 4K’s Infinite Display runs smoothly while offering 1218 pixels per inch for the device. Pre-orders for the Meta Quest 3 are already live.

Qualcomm also introduced Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 SoC primarily for the smart Glasses.

Here are Meta’s Protective Measures to Enhance User Privacy while Interacting with its Generative AI Services

Privacy Concerns have always remained part of the Generative AI services since its short lifetime. These concerns came into the limelight when OpenAI introduced ChatGPT and Google introduced its Bard. The learning methods and data for these tools have always remained a concern for the users and lawmakers. However, Meta has detailed its protective measures to protect User Privacy and how it collects data for the Generative AI tools that it launched recently along with 28 AI personas chatbots.

Must See: Meta launches new Ray-Ban Smart Glasses with live streaming, 12MP camera, and longer battery life

There are some privacy checks that Meta has established to safeguard user privacy in the new Generative AI tools. Following the previous check from the development language models like Llama 2 and others, Meta has further strengthened the “privacy safeguards and integrity mitigations” while building new tools and services based on AI.

From Where Meta Generative AI Tools Fetch Data?

To better train Generative AI tools, different sets of enormous data sets are required for better information and reliability of such tools. However, feeding such large systems with by eliminating privacy concerns has always remained a task. But the Beta has achieved it by using only public data from Meta services and products. It has excluded some websites where the user shares their personal information. For Eg: On Facebook, the company has processed only the data that is labeled as public, while it has not even touched the content under the private tag.

Even the data on messages are not touched while training their AI generative Tools. However, if the user asks anything from Meta AI by adding @Meta AI in their message, then only that message is processed by these tools. Otherwise, all the messages remain private. In addition, the company uses data from AI Stickers in your chat to improve these stickers.

Even, the businesses interacting with Generative AI tools such as Meta AI are part of the data sharing pacts. The company fetches the data as presided over by their new Privacy Guide.

Why does Sometimes AI Retain Information?

While using the Generative AI tools, these may retain some of your personal information to personalize the responses. It may be helpful for the users as it may help in generating more precise answers to your queries. However, there are always safeguards to protect your private information appearing in other’s responses. While talking about such issues, Meta details that “We use automated technology and people to review interactions with our AI so we can, among other things, reduce the likelihood that models’ outputs would include someone’s personal information as well as improve model performance.”

Built-in commands to Delete Private Data in Meta AI

To further equip users with better tools to delete their private information, Meta introduced some built-in commands to delete the information.

  • /reset-ai – Deletes AI messages.

Further, the generative AI tools keep the account information on different Meta platforms – Facebook, Instagram, and other Apps separate.

Meta aims to protect user privacy and even has dedicated work members to abide by these privacy policies. Further, the Meta has signed the White House’s voluntary commitments for AI and is a participant in AI’s Synthetic Media Framework.

Meta launches new Ray-Ban Smart Glasses with live streaming, 12MP camera, and longer battery life

Meta and Ray-Ban partnered to launch their first smart glasses in 2021, called Stories. The name was a bit strange, but both companies seem to have moved on. Meta has now announced its second-generation smart glasses, called the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. Meta says they designed the glasses from the “ground up”, improving all the core features of the first generation and adding new capabilities never seen before on smart glasses. Let’s walk through the features.

Ray-Ban Meta “Smart Glasses” Specifications

The most notable new feature of the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses is the ability to livestream video directly to Instagram and Facebook. This is a first for smart glasses, and I can see it being useful for content creators and social media users alike.

The smart glasses feature a 12MP ultra-wide camera for this purpose, which is capable of recording 1080p videos up to 60 seconds. The glasses will also let passersby know that they are being recorded with a white courtesy light on the outside.

They can store about 500 photos and 100 30-second videos before you fill up the 32GB of internal storage. Everything you record or shoot syncs through the Meta View app, which lets you share your captured moments with other apps.

The glasses are powered by a Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor and are IPX4 water-resistant, meaning they can handle light water splashes.

Meta has also improved the audio on the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. The new smart glasses are 50% louder than the first generation, and they offer better clarity and deeper bass. Meta has also added directional audio to the new smart glasses, which reduces audio leakage and provides a more immersive listening experience.

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses come in a classic Wayfarer design, and they’re available in new colors as well as a transparent option. As with Ray-Ban Stories, you can choose from a variety of lens options as well, such as sun, polarized, clear, transitions, and prescription. There are more than 150 variations in total.

The case, which doubles as a charger, has also been downsized and made lighter. It’s 32% lighter and can charge the headset up to eight times for a total of 36 hours of battery life. After that, the case needs to be recharged via USB-C.

Price and Availability

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are available for pre-order now at Meta.com, Ray-Ban.com, and select retailers. They will go on sale on October 17 in a number of countries including US Canada, Australia, and throughout Europe.

However, this move by the government is now reportedly delayed as per a new development. Now, HP has joined hands with Google to manufacture Chromebooks in the country.

HP partners with Google to make Chromebooks in India

HP commenced its PC manufacturing in India back in 2020 at the Felix facility in Chennai. It also started making laptops including the Elitebooks, ProBooks, and G8 series in December 2021. The same factory is set to start making Chromebooks from October 2. HP stated that manufacturing Chromebooks in India will cater to the demand for affordable PCs in the country, mainly in the education sector. The company continues to support the government’s ‘Make In India’ initiative.

Recently ASUS had also announced that it will make laptops at the same contract manufacturer’s facility as HP in Chennai. Additionally, a report also revealed that South Korean brand Samsung is also joining India’s laptop-making push at its Noida facility with an annual production capacity of 60,000 – 70,000 units. Two people familiar with the matter revealed that the company is expected to start making laptops in the country from next month.

The fresh leak arrived from sources close to the matter, who shared the information with 91Mobiles. In the latest report, the new foldable smartphone was spotted in a live image. But the device isn’t the main focus of this leak, rather, the contents on the cover display are the primary focus. A silver Find N3 Flip model (which isn’t available in China) can be seen with global apps on the secondary screen. The smaller external panel can be seen with WhatsApp, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube Music, GPay, and much more.

This hints that the Find N3 Flip will be arriving in the global market soon, which includes the Indian market. Looking at the list, we can see that the foldable phone will support Netflix, LinkedIn, YouTube Music, as well as popular Indian apps like Zomato, Swiggy, Zerodha, Wynk Music, JioSaavn, BookMyShow, and mAadhar. Smaller Size, Flatter Design, and More Camera: Xiaomi 14 Pro Case Leak Reveals New Design Details [Update: Video]

Xiaomi continues to expand its product line. Almost every week, the company introduces several new models, offering a broad product range that caters to nearly every user. However, no matter what the Chinese tech giant unveils lately, the tech enthusiasts are primarily focused on one model: the upcoming Xiaomi 14 Pro.

Although there have been numerous leaks about the phone expected to be released by the end of the year, there wasn’t much definitive information. Thankfully, this changed when the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro case reached the hands of the Gizmochina team. Here’s everything known about the design of the upcoming flagship…

Xiaomi 14 Pro Case Leak Reveals New Design Details

As you may know, the leaking of smartphone cases before their release has become a tradition. The main reason for this is that dummy models of the devices are sent to manufacturers long before they are introduced. This way, by the time of release, users worldwide can purchase their desired cases to protect their phones. Most recently, the case for the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro was obtained by the Gizmochina team.

When we first look at the case, we notice that the design language of the Xiaomi 14 series seems very similar to the 13 series. As always, there will be a full screen on the front. The back design, which has seen changes in recent years, will have a camera module in the top left corner. Additionally, we see four camera holes in the case. Last year’s model only had three cameras. This year, the number could increase to four, or that space might be left empty for the Leica logo again.

Moreover, that’s not the only change on the camera side. The island that houses the modules takes up a larger area and is likely to be a bit thicker. Based on this, we can say that we can expect significant changes in camera performance. Aside from that, the size of the Xiaomi 14 Pro seems to be a bit smaller than the 13 Pro. Also, judging by the case, we can say that the series is likely to have a flat and sharper design.

Unfortunately, not everything about the Xiaomi 14 series is positive, and the two models differ significantly in one aspect. Based on the cases, we can say that the Xiaomi 14 Pro has dual speakers on the frame, while the 14 standard might use the calling speaker in conjunction with a bottom speaker to achieve stereo sound. Of course, this is better than having a true single speaker. However, it’s possible to say that this is a downgrade compared to the dual speakers in previous models. Sadly, that’s all we know for now, and we have no choice but to wait for more information.

The expected specs for the Xiaomi 14 series:

iPhone 15, 15 Plus Survive Durability Test Unlike The Stronger Pro Max With Titanium Build

It turns out Apple’s strongest and the most expensive iPhone 15 Pro Max isn’t really the strongest as it surprisingly failed a durability test. It brought back memories of the iPhone 6 Plus’s #BendGate scandal. The phone is made up of titanium which is touted to be stronger than stainless steel. Now, the verdict of the non-pro iPhone 15 and 15 Plus is out, thanks to popular YouTuber JerryRigEverything who also tested the Pro Max. For those unaware, this year’s non-pro models offer significant upgrades compared to their predecessors making them worth the upgrade over previous generation iPhones too.

iPhone 15, 15 Plus survive durability test

As usual, the durability test starts with the scratch test on the iPhone 15. Apple equips the phone with a Ceramic Shield that is a little more scratch-resistant than Gorilla Glass on Android devices. If you take a closer look, the scratch marks don’t appear more pronounced as in other phones, but the iPhone 15 still scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7 on the Mohs hardness scale.

The iPhone 15 features an anodized aluminium frame and it scratches easily in the scrape test. The YouTuber adds that the colors on the non-pro model look washed out and ‘like a 4 year old ran out of food colouring’. In the fire test, the smartphone withstands flames for nearly 10 seconds until a white spot shows up on the screen.

In the ultimate durability test, the iPhone 15 holds its ground when it is bent from both the sides with ample amount of pressure. The iPhone 15 Plus also survives the bend test. This begs the question of whether stainless steel is stronger than titanium on the iPhone 15 Pro Max as Apple advertises or could it be a manufacturing defect on the Pro Max since the Pro variant also survived it?

Apple is yet to acknowledge the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s two notable issues – overheating and a weaker titanium build. Only time will tell.

Meta calls the Quest 3 the “world’s first mass-market mixed reality headset,” and the company has made a number of improvements to make it worthy of that title. Let’s take a closer look.

Meta Quest 3 Specifications

To begin with, the Quest 3 has two new full-color cameras on the front of the headset that deliver vastly improved passthrough video. This means you can now see your real-world surroundings much more clearly, which is excellent for mixed-reality experiences and finding your way around your playspace.

However, the Quest 3 does not yet fully support augmented reality. Instead, you can double-tap the side of the headset to switch between a fully immersive VR mode or a mixed reality experience, which Meta calls a blended environment.

Meta has also focused on improving the lenses in the Quest 3, which now use pancake optics for sharper, higher-resolution images. This also makes for a slimmer optic profile compared to the Quest 2, which we suppose, will make the headset more comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Likewise, the Quest 3 has a new 4K+ Infinite Display (two displays with 2064 × 2208 resolution per eye), which Meta says offers a 30% improvement in visual resolution over the Quest 2. It is also powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset and packs 8GB of RAM. Meta says the SoC offers doubles the graphics performance over the Quest 2.

In addition to these major improvements, the Quest 3 also has a number of other smaller changes, such as a 40 percent louder audio range than the Quest 2, a more balanced weight distribution, and a new Lens Distance Adjustment Wheel for more precise IPD (interpupillary distance) fine-tuning.

The Quest 3 is also getting new Touch Plus controllers. The new controllers do away with the large tracking ring in favor of infrared sensors that track your position. They also have improved haptics, so you should be able to get more visceral vibrations as you play games.

Meta Quest 3 Price and Availability

The Meta Quest 3 starts at $499.99 for the 128GB version and $649.99 for the 512GB version. Both are available for pre-order now on the official Meta Quest website, and shipping is expected to start on October 10.
