Amazfit GTR and Amazfit GTS gain support for unlocking Chinese electric vehicle

If you own an Amazfit GTR or Amazfit GTS, then a new feature rolling out to the two smartwatches will allow you to unlock your car with just your watch. Don’t get too excited as it is just not any car but a particular Chinese electric car.

Amazfit GTR Amazfit GTS car unlocking

According to a post by the official Huami Weibo account, the Amazfit GTS and Amazfit GTR will be able to unlock the Xiaopeng P7/Xpeng P7. This is an electric vehicle that is touted as the Chinese rival to the Tesla Model 3. A post by ITHome says the feature is now available via a new update rolling out to the two watches.

While being able to unlock your car with your watch is definitely a cool feature to have, this particular one is a niche one as the Xpeng P7 is just one out of the several different types of cars available. So being able to unlock just a particular type of car really narrows down the usefulness of the feature. We are also sure there are only a very very small number of persons that own both the car and either of these watches.

Nevertheless, we won’t rule out the possibility of a similar feature being available for other cars in the future especially those from more popular brands.

OPPO TV 55-inch & 65-inch spotted on 3C while their remote controls pass through Bluetooth SIG

OPPO is a well-known smartphone brand in Asia. lately, it has been expanding its product portfolio alongside its sister brands – OnePlus and realme. But unlike those two, the company is yet to launch smart TVs. Seems like it will be happening very soon as the brand’s first televisions have been certified by 3C and Bluetooth SIG.

This is not the first time we are hearing about OPPO TV. Back in June, a day after the launch of Reno4 series in China, the brand shared a picture depicting all the achievements of the company in 5G technology. This image also included all the AIoT products launched by OPPO so far, in addition to an outline of a smart TV.

Now, almost months later, two sizes (55-inch and a 65-inch) of OPPO-branded televisions have received 3C certifications (via MyDrivers). Interestingly, they feature 10 model numbers each.

Also, two OPPO remote control with model numbers RC-001D and BRC-004A were spotted on Bluetooth SIG database (via MySmartPrice). This duo could be for the above-listed TVs.

That said, nothing else is known about these upcoming OPPO TVs except for their manufacturer – TPV Display Technology (Xiamen) Co. Ltd. For those unaware, this company owns brands such as AOC, Envision and TV business of Philips. It is also an ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) for many other brands.

Therefore, we can expect good quality televisions from OPPO whenever they release. Also, since there are multiple models, they may debut in global markets at around the same time as China.

Realme 7 Pro vs Redmi Note 9 Pro vs Oppo F17 Pro: Specs Comparison

Realme 7 Pro is official alongside the Realme 7 and it brings well-balanced specifications at a very affordable price. By realizing it, Realme listened to the users’ feedbacks as most as possible, but did it create the perfect mid-rangers or there is something better in the Indian market? We think there is no better way to understand it than comparing it with the other recent handsets in the same price range. For this comparison, we chose the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the original, newly-announced Oppo F17 Pro dubbed as the sleekest smartphone of 2020. Let’s discover which device deserves to be purchased immediately. Note that the Redmi Note 9 Pro of this comparison is the Indian variant: the global version comes with slightly different specifications (and it is a slightly better device).

Design

OPPO F17 has definitely no rivals in this comparison if we talk about the design. Just think that, alongside the vanilla Oppo F17 it is the thinnest smartphone of 2020: it is just 7.5 mm thin. Further, it is one of the most lightweight handsets of the year: it weighs just 164 grams. It is even available in outstanding color variants. Unlike the Oppo F17 Pro which is entirely made of polycarbonate, the Redmi Note 9 Pro has a glass back and it has a water-repellent body (the Realme 7 Pro is water-repellent too), but the Oppo F17 Pro is still the winner of the design comparison.

Display

Redmi Note 9 Pro loses the display comparison because it sports a classic IPS panel with lower image quality. Realme 7 Pro and Oppo F17 Pro are better with their great AMOLED displays. We did not test the display of the Oppo F17 Pro, but on the paper, it seems better than Realme 6 Pro. In both cases, you get an in-display fingerprint reader, while the Redmi Note 9 Pro has a rear-mounted biometric sensor. Note that with the Realme 7 Pro you get stereo speakers, which are not present on the Oppo F17 Pro and the Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Specs & Software

The best hardware department belongs to the Realme 7 Pro. Both Realme 7 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro are powered by the Snapdragon 720G mobile platform, but the former has up to 8 GB of RAM, while the latter stops at 6 GB. Oppo F17 Pro lags behind with an Helio P95 chipset by MediaTek: it has more RAM than Redmi Note 9 Pro, but the chipset is inferior. With Oppo F17 Pro and Realme 7 Pro, you get a similar software experience (Realme UI is based on ColorOS), while Redmi Note 9 Pro has a different Android 10 customization (MIUI 11 out of the box).

Camera

The best camera phone of the trio is the Realme 7 Pro because it features a better main camera on the rear side. We are talking about a Sony sensor with a 64 MP resolution: not the best camera out there, but still better than the 48 MP sensors found on the Oppo F17 Pro and the Redmi Note 9 Pro. Even the 32 MP front camera is the most amazing, despite Oppo F17 Pro has dual front cameras which can calculate depth info in a better way.

Battery

The king of battery life is Redmi Note 9 Pro because it features a bigger 5020 mAh battery. Despite its display is more energy-demanding, it lasts more on a single charge. Right after, we got the Realme 7 Pro with its 4500 mAh unit that reaches a full charge very quickly compared to its opponents’ thanks to 65W fast charging technology.

Price

Realme 7 Pro has an Rs. 20,999 starting price in India, Redmi Note 9 Pro starts from Rs. 13,999, and Oppo F17 Pro costs Rs. 22,990. Despite its bigger battery, there is no way for the Redmi Note 9 Pro to compete with Realme 7 Pro and Oppo F17 Pro, but it has a higher value for money. In my opinion, Realme 7 Pro is the best with its AMOLED display, great hardware, good cameras, and 65W fast charging. But do not forget how sleek, thin and lightweight Oppo F17 Pro is.

OnePlus Clover with Snapdragon 460 and 4GB RAM surfaces on Geekbench

An OnePlus phone labeled as BE2012 with Snapdragon 460 chipset has appeared on Geekbench. A recent report by Android Central had revealed that an upcoming OnePlus phone codenamed as Clover will be equipped with the Snapdragon 460. Hence, it appears that the OnePlus Clover phone has shown up on Geekbench with its BE2012 model name.

The 1.80GHz Qualcomm chipset that powers the OnePlus BE2012 is mentioned with its ‘bengal’ codename. The ‘bengal’ codename has been spotted on the Geekbench listings for Snapdragon 460 powered Vivo Y20 and OPPO A53 smartphones in the recent past. Hence, it can be said that the OnePlus BE2012 is powered by Snapdragon 460. This is in turn suggests that the OnePlus BE2012 is the OnePlus Clover entry-level phone that is expected to debut in the near future.

The Geekbench 5 listing of the OnePlus BE2012 further reveals that it has 4 GB of RAM and it runs on Android 10 OS. In the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench, the handset scored 245 and 1174 points, respectively. The final product name of the device is not known.

OnePlus Clover specifications

The OnePlus Clover is rumored to arrive with a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD display, SD460, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage, and a 6,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. It has a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera system and a rear-facing fingerprint reader.

POCO M2 confirmed to feature FHD+ display, 6GB RAM, quad-camera, and fingerprint sensor

POCO M2 is set to debut in India on September 8, a day after the global launch of POCO X3 NFC. Ahead of it, the brand has been teasing the features of this handset on social media as well as partner retailer Flipkart. So far, the company has confirmed the RAM, display, and camera setup of its upcoming handset.

POCO M2 Teaser Image

Just like the POCO M2 Pro, which is part of Redmi Note 9 family, the forthcoming POCO M2 is mostly a tweaked version of Redmi 9 Prime (Redmi 9 in other markets). It is expected to be the Redmi 9 family phone with model number M2004J19PI spotted on TÜV Rheinland back in June.

As for teasers, POCO has confirmed its next smartphone for India to feature an FHD+ display with a dew-drop notch, 6GB RAM, and a quad-camera setup. One of the teaser images also reveals the camera alignment and rear-mounted fingerprint, which are exactly the same as Redmi 9 except for a different paint job.

All of these clearly points out the upcoming POCO M2 to be another device in the Redmi 9 family of handsets. Hence, we expect it to come with MediaTek Helio G80, polycarbonate body, 5,020mAh battery, and different colors to differentiate it from the Redmi 9 Prime.

An upcoming 5G-enabled OPPO phone with PECM10 / PECT10 model number has bagged certification from China’s TENAA telecom authority. The final product name of the mysterious 5G phone is not known yet. It could be one of the cheapest 5G phones from the Chinese manufacturer.

OPPO PECM10 / PECT10 specifications

OPPO announces Android 11 Beta recruitment for Find X2/X2 Pro and Reno3/Reno3 Pro

OPPO is part of Android 11 Beta program. The Find X2 and Find X2 Pro are the only devices from the company eligible for this initiative. But now, the company announces a new Android 11 Beta recruitment, which also includes Reno3 4G and Reno3 Pro 4G. The registrations for the same will open on September 7 from 4:00 (GMT).

OPPO Find X2 Pro Reno 3 Pro Android 11 Beta Recruitment September 7

The Chinese smartphone maker announced a new Android 11 Beta recruitment for four of its devices on ColorOS Community (via PiunikaWeb). What’s more interesting is that the company has included a blank space for the version number of ColorOS in the teaser image.

This suggests that OPPO may soon announce ColorOS 8. In fact, this beta recruitment could be for the latest version of its Android skin. Also, the company mentions that only limited quota will be available for this program. The exact number of spots and regions will be revealed on September 7.

Since realme UI was unveiled after the release of ColorOS 7 last year, we may also witness the debut of realme UI 2 in the coming days. Most importantly, this suggests that Google may indeed launch Android 11 officially on September 8 as reported in July.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE leaks in its entirety: Specs and Renders

Samsung has launched all of its important products for the second half of the year except for the Galaxy S20 FE. This smartphone has been in leaks for months now. We know almost everything about it including its design. Now, a new leak exposes this device entirely leaving nothing except for its price.

Galaxy S20 FE Lavender Camera Close Up Leak
Galaxy S20 FE Lavender Camera

The new leak regarding Samsung Galaxy S20 FE comes from Roland Quandt of WinFuture. According to him, the phone will come in Snapdragon 865 and Exynos 990 versions. The former will be marketed as Galaxy S20 FE 5G in regions like Europe and the latter with LTE will be sold as simply Galaxy S20 FE. The branding of the two models was first confirmed last week.

On the front, the handset will sport a 6.5-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display with 407ppi, 120Hz refresh rate, 20:9 aspect ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, in-screen fingerprint sensor, and a centred punch-hole for 32MP selfie camera.

It may only come in a single 6GB RAM + 128GB UFS 3.1 storage configuration without microSD card slot. However, buyers will be able to get it in any of the 6 colors such as white, blue, orange, lavender, green and red depending on region and variant. For instance, the “Navy Blue” version could be limited to the 5G variant.

The material used on the device’s back is unknown but the handset will support wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. Anyway, it should be mostly plastic like the regular Galaxy Note20. But since the leakster mentions it to feature a metal frame, the rear panel could be glass after all.

The back of the phone will house a triple camera setup consisting of a 12MP primary sensor with OIS, another 12MP sensor with 123° ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP with 3x telephoto lens and OIS. Further, the handset will include all the important sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetic sensor, hall sensor, light sensor, and proximity sensor.

As for software, it will run either One UI 2.1 or 2.5 based on Android 10 backed by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 15W fast charging via USB Type-C. Other features of the device include WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC for contactless payments, stereo speakers tuned by AKG and IP68 dust & water-resistant.

Realme 7 vs Realme 7 Pro vs Realme X7: Specs Comparison

Realme renewed its midrange lineup with three new smartphones: one of them is the Realme X7 and it went official a few days ago alongside the Realme X7 Pro. The remaining ones are the Realme 7 series, composed of the Realme 7 and 7 Pro. According to the official info provided, Realme listened to the users’ feedbacks in order to realize the Realme 7 series. But did it listen well? And which of the new mid-rangers by the company actually offers the highest value for money. While waiting for the global launch of these three handsets, we will try to give an answer to the above questions through a dedicated specs comparison.

Design

Realme 7, Realme 7 Pro, and Realme X7 do not differ too much when it comes to aesthetics. They all feature a punch-hole display and a rectangle-shaped camera module on the rear side. I actually prefer the Realme X7 for a simple reason: it is thinner and lighter than Realme 7 and 7 Pro. At the same time, it is even more compact. And its Rainbow color variant with the big company slogan on the rear side is very original.

Display

AMOLED with a 60 Hz refresh rate or IPS at 90 Hz? Most people prefer the first option, that is why Realme decided to equip the Realme 7 Pro with an AMOLED panel which sports a standard refresh rate in order to keep the price affordable. You get the same with the Realme X7, while Realme 7 has a 90 Hz IPS display. If you want a better image quality, you should go either for the Realme 7 Pro or the X7: choose the 7 only if you do not care about having the best image quality and you need a smoother viewing experience (e.g. if you are a gamer).

Hardware/Software

The winner of the hardware comparison is the Realme X7. The Dimensity 800U by MediaTek is actually a more powerful chipset, but that is not all: the Realme X7 is also the only one to support 5G networks. But you should note that despite packing max 128 GB of internal storage, the X7 does not have a micro SD slot, while Realme 7 and 7 Pro do. Each of these devices runs Android 10 out of the box, customized by Realme UI just like all the other Realme phones launched in the last period.

Camera

Realme X7 and 7 Pro have exactly the same camera department including a 64 MP quad camera on the rear side and a 32 MP front camera. Realme 7 has the same rear cameras as well, but its front camera is an inferior 16 MP sensor. You should not focus so much on the cameras since you will get similar photo quality with these devices. They are all midrange camera phones, nothing special, but they can record 4K videos with their main camera and 1080p videos at 120 fps from the front camera.

Battery

Realme 7 packs a bigger 5000 mAh battery, but this does not necessarily mean that its battery life will be longer. It has a bigger battery, but its IPS display running at 90 Hz is more energy-demanding. Further, its processor is built with a less efficient production process (12 nm), while the Dimensity 800U found on the Realme x7 is built at 7 nm and the Snapdragon 720G of the Realme 7 Pro is built at 8 nm.

Price

Unfortunately, these three phones are yet to go global. Realme X7 starts from €220/$260 in China, Realme 7 costs €170/$200 in India, and Realme 7 Pro begins at €230/$272. While Realme 7 loses the fight from the beginning, it is not easy to pick a winner between Realme 7 Pro and Realme X7. On the paper, the Realme X7 looks more attractive due to 5G support (and I would probably pick the X7 for this reason) and a sleeker design, but it has a smaller battery.

Realme reportedly planning to launch ANC Bluetooth earbuds in India soon

The hearable market in India continues to be one of the fastest-growing markets in the world.  including true wireless stereo devices or TWS. Chinese phone maker Realme is reportedly planning to launch Bluetooth wireless buds in India which would be equipped with active noise cancellation.

Realme Buds Air (12)

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) uses a noise-cancelling system to reduce unwanted background noise. The system is based on microphones that “listen” to the sounds outside and inside of the earphone, an ANC chipset inverting the soundwaves and a speaker inside the earphone cancelling the outside sound by the neutralising soundwaves. Bringing genuine ANC to earbuds is a challenge due to the in-ear design. Qualcomm just announced a tech that is dubbed Active ANC which will deliver ANC to earbuds. We can’t say for sure if the tech will feature on the upcoming Realme ANC earbuds. The source hints that the product will launch in a few months.

Realme already has a number of earbuds to its name in India. The company launched the Buds Air TWS buds in India market. A recent report by Counterpoint shows Realme is the fifth largest hearable manufacturers globally.

A render and entire specs of Mi TV Horizon Edition leak ahead of official launch

Last week, Xiaomi announced to launch Mi TV Horizon Edition in India on September 7. Since then, the company has been teasing this television on social media. But now, a render as well as entire specs of this upcoming Mi TV leak revealing every important aspect of it except for the price.

Xiaomi Mi TV Horizon Edition Leak

The render and information about Mi TV Horizon Edition come from well-known tipster Ishan Agarwal. He has partnered with 91Mobiles for this exclusive leak.

According to him, the forthcoming Xioami smart television will come equipped with a regular 43-inch 1080p (FHD) LED-backlit LCD panel but with slimmer bezels. Since the company teases it with words like “quintessential”, it was thought to be a high-end TV with QLED panel. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

Further, the new Xiaomi Mi TV will be powered by a Cortex-A53 processor (probably an Amlogic chip) paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. As for ports, it will come with 3 x HDMI (one of them should be ARC compatible), 2 x USB Type-A, Ethernet, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

The television will run Android TV Pie with PatchWall launcher, Chromecast Built-in, Google Assistant, and Google Data Saver. However, its 20W speakers only support DTS-HD and no Dolby Audio like other TVs from the company as well as competitors.

Having said that, we will have to wait until the official launch on September 7 to know about its price and availability.
