The Mi CC9 series includes the Mi CC9e, Mi CC9, Mi CC9 Pro, and the Mi CC9 Meitu Custom Edition. While all four phones are borne from Xiaomi and Meitu‘s partnership, the Mi CC9 Meitu Edition contains more of Meitu’s input. Its cameras are powered by Meitu’s imaging technology and not Xiaomi’s. It also has Meitu’s branding and comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
When it launched back in May, it was priced at ¥2599 (~$370). Xiaomi has now announced that the phone will get a price slash down to ¥1999 (~$284) at 10 AM tomorrow. So if you have set your eyes on the Mi CC9 Meitu Edition, tomorrow is an opportunity for you to get the phone at a cheaper price.

The phone has NFC, an IR blaster, dual-SIM support, an audio jack, and a USB-C port. It supports 18W fast charging and runs MIUI based on Android 9 Pie out of the box.
Xiaomi and Huami‘s Amazfit range of smart bands and fitness trackers pair with smartphones via the Mi Fit app. Amazfit smartwatches are paired with smartphones using their own dedicated Amazfit Watch app. The Mi Fit app also works with a bunch of other smart fitness products made by Xiaomi and its partner companies such as the Mi Smart Scales and smart shoes made by 90, Li-Ning, Kangnai, and Sprandi. The app has got a new update in China, bringing several new features and fixes.
The new version comes with the firmware version number V4.0.12 and one of the major fixes is the issue of iOS 13 OS not receiving notifications. The instruction is that after upgrading to iOS 13 and you don’t receive call notification and other notifications, go to System Settings – Bluetooth – click “(i)” on the right side of the currently bound device to open the sharing system notification and turn it on.
The firmware upgrade which is for the Chinese version also brings support for Shijiazhuang Card, Xiamen e-Tong Card for the Mi Band 3 NFC version and Mi Band 4 NFC version which also gets support for Hainan card, Shijiazhuang card, Xiamen e-card. The Amazfit Cor 2 also gets support for the three cards with the update. Further, the app is now adapted for Android 10 and also gets some bug fixes.

Xiaomi launched the Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro on November 6 as the global versions of the Mi CC9 Pro and Mi CC9 Pro Premium Edition which made its debut in China a week earlier. The launch event took place in Madrid, Spain but the device looks set to begin its global journey. Xiaomi Malaysia has announced via its Facebook page that the Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro will officially be launched in Malaysia on December 3.
The Mi Note 10 models came out with a bang when it was announced earlier this month, thanks to the massive 108MP main camera sensor it packs. The camera setup is no gimmick as the Chinese variant floored several flagship models including the iPhone 11 and Galaxy Note 10 to top DXOMark ranking alongside the Mate 30 Pro. The device has clinched several rave reviews but as it is common with large sensors, big isn’t always better as there are times you may find the camera output unimpressive.
Apart from the powerful camera setup, the Mi Note 10 and Note 10 Pro equally comes with a sleek design and powerful specs marshalled by a Snapdragon 730G chipset. The Note 10 comes with 6GB of RAM while the Note 10 Pro is available in 8GB RAM + 256GB storage combo.
Both models pack a 6.47-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a fingerprint reader underneath and a waterdrop notch at the top housing a 32MP selfie camera. You may never run out of battery with the Mi Note 10 and Note 10 Pro as they have a big 5260mAh cell with 30W fast charge support.
We’ll have to wait till the launch day to find out the official retail prices in Malaysia. In Europe, the Mi Note 10 sells for €549 while the Mi Note 10 Pro is priced at €649.
The Honor V30 arrives in five days and while the camera prowess seems to be the focus, there are other important details too. Ahead of the launch, the device has made its way to Geekbench and the benchmark tool reveals some details about the upcoming flagship.
Benchmarked as the Huawei OXF-AN10, the Honor V30 is shown to run Android 10. We are sure there is a heavy layer of Honor’s Magic UI on top and it will come along with quite a number of new features.
The phone has 8GB of RAM and is powered by an octa-core processor with a base frequency of 1.95GHz. This chipset is the Kirin 990 5G as its base frequency is higher when compared to the Kirin 990’s 1.86GHz.
The Honor V30 scored 3856 points in the single-core test and 12,221 points in the multi-core test.
The Honor V30 will launch alongside the Honor V30 Pro and both will have support for 5G. Both devices will have punch-hole displays albeit of different sizes and types. The phones will also have 60MP primary rear cameras and support for fast charging. The Honor V30 Pro will add support for wireless charging, a first for the manufacturer.
After a long wait, Huawei‘s first foldable flagship Mate X went on its first sale on November 15 and reports indicate the device was sold out in minutes. The Mate X isn’t a cheap phone as it comes with a steep 16,999 Yuan (~$2,420) price tag. Not only is the phone itself an expensive model, replacing the screen if it gets damaged will cost you a fortune (up to 7,080 yuan ($1,007). It has now emerged that the Mate X may not be a very durable model after all.
This bit was gathered from the warning that was printed on the Mate X’s retail box. Among the series of notes on the box, one is quite eye-catching. It reads that the phone should not be folded in low-temperature environments below -5 degree Celsius. Now, we understand the foldable display technology is a very delicate one and that makes the Mate X a very fragile phone. Moreso, it uses an out-folding screen design which is the ideal definition of a foldable screen phone but it offers zero protection to the screen. The Galaxy Fold deploys an in-folding design.
Why this warning sounds strange is that it is winter season in some parts of the world already, including China, and the temperature gets below -5 degree Celsius. But the reason for this warning may not be far from the fact that the display may stretch when it is folded and under such extremely cold weather condition, it may have shrunk under the principle of thermal expansion and contraction. Thus, the screen may get damaged if there is an attempt to fold it under such low temperature.
Clearly, Huawei still has some work to do with the Mate x. Hopefully, the device won’t go the way of the Galaxy Fold. That’s perhaps why the company is taking a careful approach to releasing the phone.
During the World 5G Conference in China which kicked-off today, Huawei Chairman Xu Zhijun delivery a keynote speech at the main forum. In his speech, he claimed that China has the ability to make the best 5G in the world.
He attributes this ability to several advantages that the Chinese market has, which includes local government support, industry participation, as well as consumer awareness among others. Further, the country also has the well-established terminal industry chain and 5G technology.
He goes on to add that the world is sharing the dividends brought by China’s 5G development and he believes that the 5G industry has also boosted global demand for 5G network equipment and upstream semiconductor demand, and at the same time, it drove the development of terminals as well.
Xu Zhijun also predicted that China’s 5G users will exceed 200 million mark by the end of year 2020. He said that the introduction of each generation of mobile technology has been controversial, and there are no killer applications, but history has proved that these concerns are of little significance when it comes to larger things.
Currently, three Chinese telecom providers are working to roll out 5G services in the country which include China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom. Ahead of the launch, they conducted a pre-subscription drive which saw over 9.3 million users signing up for 5G even before the official rolled out.
In the last two years, we have witnessed great strides in fast charging technology – both wired and wireless. At the moment, OPPO’s 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging is the fastest on a commercially available smartphone – the Reno Ace.
Prior to the launch of the OPPO Reno Ace, Xiaomi showed off its 100W Super Charge Turbo fast charge technology. Earlier this week, it confirmed at its Xiaomi Developer Conference that the technology will be available in devices starting next year.
The technology was expected to show up in phones this year following statements by Xiaomi executives Lu Weibing and Lin Bin that the technology was going to being mass-produced. However, the tech didn’t show up in any of Xiaomi and Redmi’s flagship phones announced afterward such as the Mi 9 Pro 5G and the Redmi K20 Pro Premium Edition.
At the developer conference, Xiaomi disclosed more details about the fast charging technology. The technology will use two batteries just like the OPPO Find X Lamborghini Edition. It will also have software and hardware protection to keep your device safe. Xiaomi says the charger will have an ultra-high efficiency of 98% and will be built with high-quality materials.
Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is all set to launch its new Honor V30 series of smartphones in its home market next week. Ahead of the official announcement, the company has been teasing some of the features of the smartphone.
In a similar teasing of the features, the company has revealed that the Honor V30 series will come with powerful video shooing features. The phone is said to come equipped with a “movie” lens for better video capturing.
On the back side, the phone has a rectangular camera module placed at the upper-left corner which looks similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy M30s and the upcoming Galaxy A51 phone. The module has three cameras and an LED flash.
As per the rumors, the smartphone could be equipped with a primary lens of 60-megapixel. A recent report has also revealed that Honor V30 series will come with the new Camera Matrix algorithm that will optimize the photography experience.
The Honor V30 renders reveal that it will be arriving in Orange and Blue colors. Both color variants have gradient finish that gives it a premium appeal. Further, the display of the phone has a pill-shaped cutout for housing the two front-facing cameras.
On the right side, there’s a volume rocker and a side-mounted fingerprint reader is placed. There is a USB-C port, a microphone, a SIM tray and an external speaker on the bottom side of the Honor V30 while on the topside, there’s an IR blaster and an additional microphone but the phone lacks 3.5mm audio jack on the device.
Under the hood, the V30 Pro smartphone will be powered by Kirin 990 5G SoC and will be backed by a 4,200mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging support. It remains to be seen how the company prices the V30 and V30 Pro smartphones.
Xiaomi has been launching innovative products but now the company has launched an older device, which this generation of people may not have even seen. The company has now launched the old-fashioned DIY retro projector.
The DIY retro projector from Xiaomi is priced at 229 Yuan, which roughly converts to $33. The company says that all the parts of the projector are equipped with German laser cutting technology, which ensures accurate precision when assembled.
Xiaomi has said that the entire assembly process is divided into 16 parts, where each part has a corresponding number. The user can start assembling the product as per the manual which will guide them step by step and the company says that each step is clearly written. After assembly, the product turns out to be 22cm long and 24.5cm high.
The company has also revealed that the once the assembly is done, it can display real life film with 58 frames. Also, there’s no need to install a battery or a cable and the device can be directly projected through hand crank.
At the 2019 World 5G convention which kicked off in Beijing earlier today, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun revealed that the company is currently building a huge 5G factory that’s highly efficient and automated. In his keynote speech at the event, he revealed that this future 5G factory has the ability to manufacture 1 million smartphones in a month.
Xiaomi’s New Store in Madrid, Spain
The Xiaomi factory, currently being built in the Beijing Economic and Technical Development Zone, will have a vast 5G network inside. With the help of automated production lines and big data, the factory will be able to manufacture 60 smartphones per minute, which will be a staggering 60% more output than traditional factories. The factory’s construction work will be finished by December 2019 and soon it will be churning out nearly a million Mi flagship smartphones in a month.
Lei Jun further added that 5G will give a fresh boost to the declining smartphone industry next year. And Xiaomi is betting big on 5G. The company has a strong IoT + 5G strategy for the coming years and plans to release at least 10 5G smartphones in 2020. In fact, all Xiaomi smartphones that cost over $300 in China will support 5G, confirmed the company executive last week. It’s IoT strategy is also going strong with Xiaomi selling 5.55 million IoT devices in this year 11/11 Singles Day sales, a solid 148% increase as compared to last year.
Huawei is holding a launch event in China on 25th November where the company will be launching a couple of new devices, including the Huawei MatePad Pro and Huawei Sound X speakers.
Ahead of the launch event, the company has now shared a new teaser video which showcases the Huawei MatePad Pro teasing some of the key features of the upcoming flagship tablet. Thanks to the larger screen, the device also comes with support for split-screen operations as well as multi-tasking.
Along with the Huawei MatePad Pro, the company is also going to launch the Huawei Sound X smart speaker. It has a cylindrical design but looks nothing like its AI Cube that launched last year. It slightly deviates from the design of its second smart speaker that launched alongside the Mate 20.
The speaker has a two-tone dual texture design – an upper part with a gray finish and a bottom section that is black. The speaker also has a large button on the side. The Sound X will be powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and will have 512MB of RAM and 8GB of storage. There are two 60W subwoofers and six 1.5W tweeters for a 360° 5.1 home theater surround sound experience. The Sound X connects via Bluetooth 5.0 to your phone and supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi networks.
A few days ago, Xiaomi India announced they were going to unveil a new Mi Smart Band. The new fitness tracker called the Mi Smart Band 3i has now been announced.
The Mi Smart Band 3i looks like its predecessor, the Mi Band 3 but is more like a successor to the 2017 Mi Band HRX Edition. This is because while it shares a similar design to the Mi Band 3 just as the HRX Edition does with the Mi Band 2, the Mi Smart Band 3i is also missing a heart rate monitor.
The smart band has a 0.78” 128 x 80 AMOLED monochrome display with a capacitive touch button. It will notify you when you receive a call or notification alert on your device. It also has a step and calorie counter, activity tracker, sleep quality monitor, sedentary reminder, water-resistant up to 5ATM/50 meters, and has a battery life of up to 20 days. The battery capacity is 110mAh and it takes 2.5 hours to charge it full using the dedicated charging cable.
The Mi Smart Band 3i connects via Bluetooth 4.2 LE and is compatible with Android 4.4 and up devices as well as devices running iOS 9.0 and above. It measures 4.68 x 1.81 x 1.1 centimeters and comes in black.
Xiaomi India has put a price tag of INR 1,299 on the Mi Smart Band 3i. That roughly converts to $18 and that is cheaper than the Mi Band 3 priced at INR 1,799 (~$25).
Pre-order goes live today on Mi.com. For those who were able to register for Xiaomi’s RunWithMi scheduled for December 1, the manufacturer has announced it will give those who complete the run or walk a free Mi Smart Band 3i.
A new bug has been found in the camera app from Google, Samsung, and other OEMs which can secretly spy on the owner using their own phone’s cameras. For the hijacking to succeed, all the malicious app needs is to be granted data storage permissions.
Google has been lately focusing on securing the user data with the app privacy and the company has employed a more fine-grained permission system that only asked for and granted access to certain hardware capabilities on a case-by-case basis. But unfortunately, a bug reported by Checkmarx last July is able to circumvent that using what looks like a legit non-camera app.
The application would look harmless both to users and to Google’s automated anti-malware systems and it may not even ask for permissions beyond accessing data storage, perhaps to save settings or files. But the bug would allow to hijack camera apps, which also use storage permissions to save photos and videos, and are able to remotely and silently control the camera app to take photos or record videos or even use the camera app’s GPS access to get the phone’s location.
Checkmarx researchers, who discovered the flaw, said in its Tuesday analysis: “Unfortunately, storage permissions are very broad and these permissions give access to the entire SD card. There are a large number of applications, with legitimate use-cases, that request access to this storage, yet have no special interest in photos or videos. In fact, it’s one of the most common requested permissions observed.”
While the camera app from other OEMs might also be affected, the vulnerability has been named to affect camera apps from Google and Samsung. Following the rules of disclosure, the security research group had already alerted Google about the vulnerability in July, with Samsung acknowledging the bug in August this year. While Google said that the company has already patched the issue, Samsung is yet to give a statement.
Huawei may have a lot of problems on their hands, but they can still make a pretty good laptop when they want to. The troubled Chinese tech company has received some serious plaudits over the last couple of years for its MateBook range, and now, it looks like we’re about to get a taste of the next chapter.
A number of renders posted by serial leaker Evan Blass suggest that there are two new models in the pipeline. One is a pretty bog-standard 14in device. We suspect it’s not a refreshed MateBook X Pro, simply because it has an HDMI port, something that has previously only been included on mid-range Huawei devices.
The more interesting variant appears to be a 15-incher – the first time Huawei has dabbled into a larger form-factor. From the renders we can make one or two fairly safe assumptions – the power key looks to be the usual one that doubles as a fingerprint sensor.
The upcoming Matebooks might not be the slimmest models we have yet seen, but they sure come with quite the port selection. Huawei appears to have stuffed the 15-inch model with an audio out, full-size HDMI output, 3x USB-A ports and a USB-C one that is most likely compatible with the Thunderbolt 3 standard, while the 14-inch model is only one USB-A port short.
Both variants feature the power button that integrates a fingerprint reader and come with thin bezel 16:9 displays. Judging by the thickness of the chassis, these models will probably be powered by Intel’s top-of-the-line Comet Lake-U processors. We can probably expect these new MateBooks to make an appearance at CES or MWC in early 2020.
We’ve no idea when exactly the new laptops will hit the market. Huawei traditionally announces their Matebooks in Q1 for release in Q2, so expect to see the devices hit the market in April 2020. Hopefully, by then the company will have resolved their issues with the US government, it’s such a shame to see these great devices get stifled.

Designed to relieve your hands, the smart robot vacuum cleaner uses Spark Laser Navigation System to create a real-time map for handling larger and hard-to-reach areas without repeatedly cleaning the same locations or skipping an area.
Spark is capable of working completely independently. As the battery level drops, the robot automatically returns to its charging station and charges itself. Once fully charged, it continues the unfinished cleaning work exactly from where it stopped.
Using the Zigma App, you can check out a real-time cleaning report, schedule cleaning, adjust suction and perform a myriad of other activities. You can use a virtual wall option on the Zigma App, use a physical limit sticker to restrict the Spark from cleaning a specific area.
To know more about the Zigma Spark Robot Vacuum Cleaner and to place your order, all you need to do is to follow this link without wasting time. Note that the promo is slated to end soon.
Huawei‘s Smart Screen TV has been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance. The smart TV was listed on the website of WiFi Alliance on November 19 and it has the model number “OSCA-550Y” which also cliched Bluetooth certification only a few days earlier.
The model number suggests that this is likely the 55-inch model which is one of the screen size options the Huawei Smart Screen comes in. The smart TV is also available in 65-inch and 75-inch models. Also, the smart TV listing shows it runs Huawei’s own HarmonyOS just like the variant launched in China.
The Wi-Fi Alliance and Bluetooth certifications are indicators that the Smart Screen may soon go on sale in the global market, especially in Europe. The Huawei Smart Screen was first announced in Germany at IFA but hs yet to go on sale anywhere outside China. The company only launched the Honor Vision and Vision Pro in India. If the Huawei smart TV goes on sale in Europe, it will be the first HarmonyOS-powered device that would be sold in the EU.
